Re: For those who haven't seen The Shield...

I know what you mean, but I like the fact that it was Shane who stepped in. At that point Vic was done and dusted and ready to face the slammer, but it was Shane who pulled him out of the fire. It was probably the only thing that Shane has done in this series that didn't go completely balls up. Maybe that's cos Lem was involved too...

Yeh that's true, Shane was good in the episode with Carl Weathers in it when he got back on good terms with vic, I couldn't stop thinking of arrested development though whenever I saw Weathers on screen :D

Re: For those who haven't seen The Shield...

Pretty smart idea guys!!!!

Under a thread entitled "For those who havent seen the sheild", start posting spoilers for those that......wait for it........havent seen the sheild.

Just watching Season 1, but thanks for telling me what happens further down the track, i appreciate having the ending of tv shows / movies / books told to me.

10/10!

Re: For those who haven't seen The Shield...

Well that's the risk you take when reading a thread about a show that's 6 seasons old!

It's why I'm avoiding the "Scrubs" thread. I'm halfway through Season 6, got the DVDs today. Now the long wait for the release of Season 7 begins :p

I think of Predator:D

I wish Carl was in it more. Love his character

Bullshit... look at the thread title dimwit. Why would "those who haven't seen the shield" expect spoilers within?

Either start a thread which indicates spoilers within or wrap spoiler posts in spoiler tags.

It's always Rocky for me.

Armadillo was a great villian but the scariest mother ****er the strike team came up against was Margos the Armenian foot fetishest.

Fair enough no need to resort to name calling, but it would be easy for anyone to stop reading the thread once the first spoiler had been posted (thats what i did) and realise that the thread was going to be dominated by conversation of those who had already seen the shield instead of reading till the end of the thread and having a whinge about it.

Re: For those who haven't seen The Shield...

Yeah he was okay, just thought that Anthony Anderson reeeeeally over-acted some of his stuff. Same with Whitaker and Kavanaugh, but at least with him, the character was supposed to be sorta hyper and all over the place.

Danny Pino just played Armadillo so well.

What's your opinion of Walton Goggins (Shane)? For mine he is comfortably the best actor on TV at the moment. Believable, watchable and compelling, the scene where he and Lem are waiting in a skip to rob the Armenian money train was a work of genius. He captured the tenseness and danger of the moment without saying a word.

Walt is a brilliant actor. In real life he's a super intelligent guy yet he does the bigoted redneck thing to a tea.

The greatest trick he's ever pulled is doing even worse stuff than Vic, yet still almost making you feel sorry for him.

Massive spoiler alert about last season!!!!!!! (highlight)
Hell, after he killed my favourite ever character, Lem, i wanted that prick to die slow. But over the last season you can't help but feel sorry for him. Especially when he protected Corrine and Cassidy from the Armenians.

He has to die tho, and that makes me sad. I love the show because i love the team, but the final season can be about nothing but the teams inevitable path to doom.

Re: For those who haven't seen The Shield...

yeah i'm in the same boat as mancey.

Goggins is a superb actor.

spoiler--->>I wanna hate shane for what he did to Lem and I do hate hate him, but I still empathise with him. That scene is season 6 where he completely breaks down and confesses everything to Mara is bloody fantastic. All my hate for him just melted away right then. Shane is more or less the same character as Vic. Vic moulded him and groomed him, the only difference is that Vic is a whole lot smarter than Shane, that's why ultimately Lem's death is Vic's fault.

Either way, I'm certain the show will end with him dead and Vic either in the slammer or booted out of the force for good and left all alone.

My take on next season...

You know...i really don't think Vic is going to be locked up or killed. In real life people often never get whats coming to them, and i believe that this will be the case with Vic. If anything he will even advance his career. Its how the whole human drama just keeps perpetuating itself.

I do think however he will lose a lot of what is important to him because of what he's done. Well, in reality, lose more of what was important to him. He's already paid quite a price with Lems death and his separation.

yeah i s'pose it's possible that vic might stay on the force at the end of the show, but i'm certain that even if does he'll be a broken figure, completely alone and isolated with everything he cares about sacrificed for his job.

I wouldn't go as far as saying "best actor of TV at the moment", but he's pretty much always pitch-perfect on that show. He really switches gears brilliantly between smarmy/smartarse Shane, concerned/emotional Shane, and intimidating Shane. Never over does it, or gets cheesy (certainly the great writing helps him with that). The scene where he blew up Lem could have been really lame without his acting chops there to help it along.

Re: For those who haven't seen The Shield...

smarmy/smartarse Shane

Thats my favourite shane:D

His best line has to be when they busted that white guy in the black gospel church

Shane Vendrell: Looks like you wandered into the wrong prayer group, Frosty.

Re: The Shield S7 Trailer

man that is gonna be badass!! i've loved this series from the start and i'm dying to see how it all ends.

i remeber hearing it was going to be shown around april-may. But that was a few months ago. I do remember that Shawn Ryan, the show's creator, was willing to cut all his involvement with the final episodes in support of the writers' strike, so that may have pushed things back a bit. God, I hope not...

Also for some reason FX delayed the new season and instead bumped up some crappy dramedy from Courtney Cox.

They haven't even got their arse in gear about getting season 6 on dvd!!

Re: The Shield S7 Trailer

I'm chafing at the bit for this. That clip is a total prick tease:D

Good to see what looks to be Ronnie getting his hands dirty.:thumbsu:

Its a long shot, but the main thing i'm hoping for is just one more flashback ep, when the whole team was together and clicking.

God i miss Lem. No one looked cooler with the shottie in their hands.

Wiki still says fall 08. Its a long wait if that's true. :(

Re: The Shield S7 Trailer

How awesome is Shane though? Sure he's an idiot and has done the unforgivable. But he always manages to come up with a way out. I just love the way he constantly saves his own arse. Whether it's coming up with a plan or kicking other peoples arses (although with every season you feel like the end is getting closer for him).
