Deflection, well yes partially but there is a lot of truth in what hes saying

What was Dale Lewis' statment a few years back? Around 80% of the league used recerational drugs? Consider old Dale was a Swans player you would imagine a lot of his figures would be based on socialising with his own team mates.

Still think the Swans are clean?
Actually said 75% and was laughed out of town!

Test: Name one current player that was around in Dales Lewis time?

Swannies unfortunately are too clean.... why can't we have a bashing or a druggie or a punch up with the Mrs or an affair or a gangster?

Yeah i too was one of the people who laughed at Lewis at the time, after hearing more of the goings on in the footy world since then however im inclined to beleive, while probably still exaggerated in terms of figures, was on the right track.

One player around Lewis' time? Since he retired in 2001 the following are eligible:
Micky O
Ben Matthews
Ryan O'kEefe
Nic Fosdike
Stephen Doyle
Leo Barry
Jude Bolton
Jared Crouch
Bret Kirk
Amon Buchannan
Adam Goodes

All of the above were team mates of Lewis while he was at the Swans and are current Swans players

Swans too clean? You've got a guy accused of rape who plays for you  Your just lucky the Swans play in a state where they are still largely unrecognised. If they played in Perth or Melbourne, with the public scrutiny that goes on there i guarantee you the swans squeaky clean record would take more of a pounding.

You,ll wanna hope it doesn,t blow up in your face Swan.
But the point is that it has blown up in West Coast's face. Trying to shift attention away from that fact is futile. You club is currently being exposed for its poor culture amoungst several of your most high profile players. I'm sure many WC supporters would be lining up to have a crack if it was some other club in the same situation but it isn't some other club its your club. Trying to defend the way way some of your players have behaved only makes the supporters look as stupid as the players.

my club is drug free.
Well, we'd like to think so but isn't the whole point of this thread that no other club can make that claim with complete certainty?

I won't be trash talking West Coast during this saga - Cousins has made some poor choices - just like Ablett, Maradona or Gascoigne - and i hope he works through it and comes out the other side :thumbsu:

To put sponsors, fans and every body else that has a vested interest in our great game at some kind of ease, why haven't any coaches, presidents, chairmen of any of the other 15 teams come out and said that their club is 100% drug free??:confused: Who on this forum would state that their club is 100% drug free??

You'd think with the roasting the Eagles are getting atm, that any team that is completely drug free would like to advertise the fact.

The silence is deafening.

Maybe it's because NONE of them are. Think about it before you jump up on your soap-box. ;);)
The Herald Sun had a wright up of what Team Captains response to the drug issue was.

Listening to John Worsfold I feel Whats happening at the WEC appears to be a result of the AFL's namb bambi approch of not being more up front on this issue when someone fails a Test.

This 3 strike policy is rubbish for there no different between if you use once or three times, I guess you can say the Chickens are coming home to roost sadly the losers are Ben Cousins and the WCE, while the tools who run the AFL have not been called to account.

Considering Lawrence Angwin stated that he knew 'at least' 10 senior players who all took either eccies or coke on the weekend
Laurie Angwin couldn't lie straight in bed. FWIW, I know of 4 players who were taking some form of drugs while Angwin was at Carlton, but those players have all left the club.

Trying to justify the Eagles' situation by drawing comparisons to other clubs, will not take away the fact that the powers that be at West Coast have either been turning a blind eye to this issue, or have been ignorant of this issue. Personally I think it is a bit of both.
