The Sleeping Giant's Are Out Of Their Coma!

May 29th 2010.

Richmond 77
Port Adelaide 30.

Let's not get ahead of ourselves and start to assume we will win more and more. We will still lose a lot, but thats ok!

Because this team is not our next premiership team, but I'll be damned if Cotchin, Martin, Deledio & Riewoldt are not our next premiership players. Throw in Angus Graham (who I say sorry too - for ever doubting you!!) and Nason, Connors and maybe even Newman if we get lucky enough.

This win felt different to me. Did it feel different to you? This win felt like, yeah we won, it wasn't bullshit basketball tactics, it wasn't an average win, it was a ****ing awesome win, it was the start of our club earning back its respect.

2001 - Semi-Final Richmond Vs. Carlton, I was 11 at that point and my god that was a glorious victory, but for some reason, I thought we were lucky that Kouta got his knee destroyed and I knew Brisbane would eat us the next week.

Ever since then, it has been just hope, I've been hoping for success, I have been hoping for wins without really seeing the improvement before my very eyes.

Danny Frawley recruited guys like Paul Hudson. Terry Wallace recruited guys like Jordan McMahon. Although they drafted, I never really saw any improvement, I saw no development from anyone, if we didn't have a ready made player, he was never going to be a gem. Kane Johnson, Nathan Brown...they weren't Richmond...they were good, but they were Adelaide and Footscray.

DIMMA is my hero. Thanks to him we are finally making our own :thumbsu:

My god, these kids are everywhere, Nason at pick 71. Griffiths is a machine, Cotchin, Martin...

Then you got these other guys, guys I really did not rate and never thought they could really ever be consistant. Yet somehow they are. Riewoldt, Gus Graham and Daniel Connors.

Then Tuck and Deledio reinvent themselves.

All this and we are losing!

I know the losses hurt, but these losses have hurt the least of them all as a 15 year Richmond supporter. Because we are going somewhere...this time, we really are.

The only difference with this win is that the media and the AFL will see that we are going places too.

The sleeping giant is waking...it has taken 30 years but when he wakes, it will be our moment Richmond faithful, so lets enjoy our road to the holy grail, cause we are finally on the right track! (and I'm a little drunk...) :thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu::D:D:D

Oh and **** YOU TERRY WALLACE & GREG MILLER - ***** take back McMahon with you, media whore.

As dumb as this may sound, but we are a slight chance of 3 in a row. I know i will get shit canned for saying it, but our upward graph has been very impressive. People have been saying we only beat Port because it was wet... Hello... It was the same for them. Our skill level was superb in the worst possible conditions.

So next week, Saints not playing that flash, not as quick, will be minus the lesser of the Riewoldts and up againsed an inform backline, a mid field in red hot condition. Jack in career best form. Griff better for the run, up againsed Zac the Enforcer in perfect conditions, and the emotions of Simmos last game. Plus the most important thing... Belief. After today they will have grown anther gonad each. As long as they can keep their head space focused it will be very interesting.

IF we do get over them, then the Eagles....

I just think we are getting a little ahead of our selfs here, i mean dont get me worng i am happy as flies on shit that we won but we still have alot of work to do and i hate to see a failed performance against st kilda next week turn people against the good work that has been done simply because we won 1 game.

I suspect we may be tired after a great effort this week (bloody hard conditions and young bodies), but after the saints, there's a couple there that is definately up for grabs. Three out of four would be fantastic, but, (insert Gary Ayres here), let's take it one week at a time!!!

the first year kids wont need a rest, they will be loving every game, the coach will probably have to force them to have a rest. Not ask them if they want one.

Phase 2 of why the media love tigerheads and why we are a laughing stock....so the sleeping giant has awoken yeah? Bwahaaahaaaa....we will never learn will we?
I cant stop laughing at the thought if it were our previous coach selling us this win...tipping he would have urged all tigerheads to flood the club for the GF guarantee....;)

I personally think it is. I know we all (well almost all) got carried away yesterday, but the signs look very good indeed. If in 3 or 4 years we are kicking ass, massive crowds, tv ratings, some finals, then people will look back to Dimmas clean out and first transition year and say thats when the sleeping giant started to emerge.

yah we don't want to get too ahead of ourselves, but the thing that excites me this year is that the progress is easy to see for those paying attention.

and i mean the fans that follow RFC week in, week out. not the shit eating commentators like Morphett or the ex-players 'i was better in the day' that still harbour immature childish grudges against us. those pricks may be paying attention, but when they open their mouths all they do is bag us out as they all like to be on the same bandwagon as each other. it makes them all feel important when all they are, are complete pricks.

imho we've seen more progress this year than in all the years of Frawley and Wallace combined. and that's what excites me.

Tackling was sensational by our lads.

Went to The London Tavern to watch it and celebrated into the night.

No excuses for Port.

We won by 47.

Great to see the Tigers pull away and grind out a big win in wet conditions.

To be honest, the club have made great strides the last few weeks and it looks like everything is coming together.
