I know this thread is called sliding mids and that there will certainly be some sliders, but what are the reasons that make you think that Adams will slide to #22 to us when he is quite quick, good in traffic and like you said avg. 30 possessions in the TAC cup? most posters on BF rate him top 15 material and I even rate him top 10, plus he has leadership qualities, which are something clubs value a lot these days, especially for a new club such as GWS. Don't get me wrong, I'd be over the moon if we get him, but I am just interested in your opinion as to why Adams will slide that far in a supposedly weak draft.
Clubs would see Coniglio, WHE, Tyson, Wingard, Greene, Kavanagh, Buntine, Sumner as all better midfielders and prospects (thats 8 he is behind). Patton is a guaranteed top 2 pick. I stated the reasons why Brisbane will take 2 talls. One if not both of fremantles picks 16 and 20 will be tall at least one i feel. GWS as i said in my above post have enough mids and i have them taking all talls for the rest besides Devon Smith who i think will be used as more of a small forward early in his career and from what i know GWS dont really have many small forwards.
It basically comes down to Brisbane and GWS having 13 of the top 14 picks and both require talls.
If you look at Gold Coast from last years draft they had 8 picks in the top 13, 4 were talls and 4 were mids and they certainly had a lot more talls and players that they picked played other positions besides genuine midfield which is what i see GWS having (Scully, Palmer, Ward ect). GC picked guys like Brown, Brennan, Frasier, Coad, Z.Smith, Harbrow, Stanley ect who were suited toother positions than midfield and yet they still picked half talls and half mids with 8 top picks.
GWS midfield players which are all young guns besides Power, Scully, Ward, Palmer, Coniglio, Tyson, WHE/Wingard, Buntine, Kennedy, Shiels, Treloar, Ugle, D.Smith (slightly forward aswell) thats plenty for the future.
Than the buldogs picked up 2 very good mids with Wallis and Libba and have plenty of other areas of need and as i said fremantle will take one tall with pick 16 or 20 IMO, they desperatly need upcoming talls (Houghton got delisted as a tall forward, Sibosado delisted as a tall back, Pavlich not much longer left, Sandilands same as Pav, Anthony lucky to still be on the list, Mcpharlin not long left, Grover last year, Johnson and Kepler iffy talls.
If Adams, Sumner, Greene dont slide than D.Smith, Buntine, Ellis types will but those 3 will be seen as ealry in there career as (small forward, utility, small backmen) and would all fill a position for GWS and i know Fremantle are very keen on Ellis and he fills that hole as a small defender and wont look out of place at pick 16.
