Because its been digging at me for a while (and as we see, other people too), and I felt like I'd had enough.

I miss diversity in our posters. I don't see the need for blokes to throw around sexist stuff about women that makes it hard to stay here. This place is for football, and Port Adelaide.

Are you bored because it's the off-season? I mean yeah the occasional comment that could be viewed as sexist gets thrown around, but this board is pretty tame. I don't see the need to play fun police. I'm not having a crack at you, this time, I just do not understand your reasoning behind starting a crusade that is never going to lead anywhere.

Mate do you legitimately think you're being asked to do something that you either can't do, or that would require an unreasonably large huge effort to do? Thats really all we need to know.

Has nothing to do with femininity at all or implying woman are less then men. It's a footy insult thrown by fans and has been for a long time. Hell I've heard my Mum, sister, girlfriend and female friends all throw the same insult at the footy or watching the footy. Now I doubt woman are sexist against themselves.

I get your original point, I think the vast majority of us do and take it on board. But you can't throw that at another poster over a football term that has been around longer then any of us.

I'm raising a daughter and live with 2 woman so I see your point and fully understand what your saying here, I get what you want with how this forum can behave at times from what I've read in this thread.

The word **** in general is thrown around a hell of alot, or it is here in Perth. It shouldn't be but it is, dunno why just is used as a throwaway insult in Perth anyway, I can't speak for Adelaide in that regard I don't live there.

If there's a easy way to change people's behaviors it's raising awareness to it as you've done so that's a start. No guarantee all will change, some may which is a start.

My original point with the princess gibe is everyone male or female in my experience has picked it up from either their parents or who they associate with watching footy. It can be taken as sexist that's fine, but trying to stop people using the term is going to be hard, as with the under current of racism in this country alot of its inherited behavior and very hard to change.

PS- I'm not implying anyone is racist or sexist in the last paragraph it's just a generalization of this issue being raised in the context of society as a whole as I see it.

Interesting topic. Good for you Portia for standing up for what you believe in. I'd just like to say to people that when a person is offended the best thing to do is to have empathy. Instead of pushing your own agenda there is a chance to walk in someone else's shoes and look at life from a different perspective.
