I'm getting a little tired of our supporters getting a chubby about securing 2nd,3rd and 4th round picks.
Is anyone seriously saying that there is going to be quality youngsters after pick 10 in this draft?
Lets not forget how deep the hole is we are in ,we need players that will be pushing for selection next year, not 2009 and on.
Let's hope we finally have some luck because I'm starting to get a bit gloomy about the future, esp. if players start leaving in droves

There are heaps of good players out there who are not top 10. Yes top 10 picks have a greater chance of success, but with a good number of 2/3 rd round picks we are an excellent chance of picking up further good players.

This only our 2nd real chance at the draft since black Friday (Don't count 2004 with JR and AH). Rebuilding takes time and although the list is improving we are still a fair way from having a top 4 list. Numerous picks this year will enable that to happen.

Well yes we would love to have 5 of the top 10 picks but we won't.
The reason why we are getting excited about (possibly) having as many as 7 of the top 40 is that good players spring from all parts of the draft, the more picks you have, the more likely you are to get one.
We may just jag the next James hird with 50 something, Simpson, Betts, Fisher, Pearce (PA)......the list goes on for many clubs.

Secondly, our second Rd pick from last year looks quite good.........from those who are supposed to know something about it (AFL recruiters) this year is better than last, and the top 20 this year would possibly match it with the top 5 in other years. We want as much of this draft as we can get....bring a glut of guys through together.....the baby blues (oops......chubby........sorry):p

If it wasn't for the so-called superdraft we might have seen a bit more action this week. Clubs aren't prepared to give up picks so there's little trading going on.

Over the last couple of years the amount of trading has slowed to a trickle, hence why it was suggested after last year that the trade period does not need to go for 5 days. Some have suggested 1 day is enough. Certainly, the bigger trades are always done on the last day and this year will be no different. All the to-ing & fro-ing between Carlton and Hawthorn supporters on other threads is just ridiculous, because nothing was ever going to be done until tomorrow (the last day). Hopefully next year will see trade week become trade day or trade Thursday and Friday.
