I thought they won before it started when Brisbane arrived and just forfeited in awe of their presence and sheer greatness.

Don't know why one would offer commiserations to Geelong, they've done very well with 4 flags in the last 20 years and finals nearly every other year.

Different story if it was Freo or Gold Coast going for their maiden flag (or even St Kilda with their long drought) and falling short.

They are hardly a hard luck story.

The same with Collingwood and Hawthorn who get the MCG in September not matter where they finish in the 8.
