Bigfooty Legend
All the top 10 lists have The Wire in the top 5. I've watched (endured) the first 3 seasons waiting for the magic. I don't get the hype.
I pushed through the whole show. You didn't miss anything.

Season 1 of True Detective would be up there in the top TV shows of all time.
It didn't end after season 1 though.
Bit of a let down, very average interviewer, could have done better with all the cast there (except Bobby Bacala)
Serious? He's as big as a house now. Really let himself go.Little Steven hasn’t changed in 20 years

The Wire is great once you get past the "This is just a better than normal cop show" feel the very early episodes have.
Visually it probably loses points because of the dated 4:3 look and the camera angles and such aren't particularly interesting or unique.
The Wire got a decent blu ray release a while back. Probably the definitive version to watch. Words can't do that show justiceThe Wire is great once you get past the "This is just a better than normal cop show" feel the very early episodes have.

But its characters and stories and nuances and subtleties and how they weave make it the best show to depict how cities work. The Wire's Baltimore feels like a real place but not simply because they did location shooting. I don't think there was a single dream sequence or stuff like that the entire series. No "open to the viewer's interpretation" going on.
I suspect it'll age well into a period drama of what a big but not too big American city was like in 2002-2008.

The music was great on the Sopranos too, each song reminded you of the exact episode, and there was a great mix of genres. It would be a long soundtrack, each episode had about 4 or 5 songs somewhere. Listening to that soundtrack would be like going through the series in your mind for repeat viewers.
I wanted to be Artie because he was aligned to the mob, got plenty of benefits without doing much of the dirty work.Just seeing them being interviewed brings back memroeis:
1. Artie - FMD he was a loser - had to deal with so much crap from Tony and ended up a screwup. Geez his wife in the show was hot as though
2. Junior still kicking - presumed he'd be dead by now
3. Paulie - all time favourite character on the show.
So it plays full screen on big screen tvs?
Got ****ed over so many times by Tony and the othersI wanted to be Artie because he was aligned to the mob, got plenty of benefits without doing much of the dirty work.
