The known Universe just got a lot bigger.
A new map of the night sky published Tuesday charts hundreds of thousands of previously unknown galaxies discovered using a telescope that can detect light sources optical instruments cannot see.
The international team behind the unprecedented space survey said their discovery literally shed new light on some of the Universe’s deepest secrets, including the physics of black holes and how clusters of galaxies evolve.

It's immensely far away and required a telescope the size of the Earth to take... so yeah it's a bit blurry.

The project has been scrutinizing two black holes — the M87 behemoth, which harbors about 6.5 billion times the mass of Earth's sun, and our own Milky Way galaxy's central black hole, known as Sagittarius A*. This latter object, while still a supermassive black hole, is a runt compared to M87's beast, containing a mere 4.3 million solar masses.
Both of these objects are tough targets because of their immense distance from Earth. Sagittarius A* lies about 26,000 light-years from us, and M87's black hole is a whopping 53.5 million light-years away.

It's probably put on weight since then (cue the mum/dad jokes), gobbled up some unlucky asteroids and maybe a star or two :D
I don't judge the poor fella, I've gained a few pounds too. Interesting to think that if there is an advanced civilization a similar distance away who are observing earth, they're seeing the period about 10mil years post dinosaurs. Although they'd probably have some wormhole cam technology to observe in real-time.

Scientists have found a huge new planet that is unlike anything in our solar system — and it could be like a “wrecking ball”.
Planet HR 5183 b has three times the mass of Jupiter and travels on an incredibly long, egg-shaped path around its star, according to Caltech, which led the research. The planet takes 45 to 100 years to complete its orbit.
“If this planet were somehow placed into our own solar system, it would swing from within our asteroid belt to out beyond Neptune,” it added.

Scientists have made a promising discovery on a little-known exoplanet known as K2-18b, which they believe could potentially support life.
Scientists have discovered water vapour on a distant “super-Earth” known as K2-18b for the first time.
The exciting development, published in Nature Astronomy on Thursday, represents the first time water — an essential ingredient for life as we know it — has been detected in the atmosphere of a potentially habitable exoplanet, meaning a planet with Earth-like conditions outside our solar system.
Scientists believed it was a prime candidate for finding water, as it orbits within the “habitable zone” of a small, red dwarf star called K2-18. That means it’s not too hot that water will evaporate, but not too cold that it will freeze.
