Participation grew at small percentage from a very low base - most from girls playing. From memory 2%. I know all the figures.

· 7.3% overall participation growth to 254,812 participants (vs. 237,549 in 2016)

Thank you for providing the perfect excuse for yet again posting these figures (originally provided by BringBackTorps with sources) -

2014 GWS Sydney Zone 10 U12 boys' Comp. teams
2014 nil U12 girls' teams (in fact, no girls' Comp. teams in any age groups)
2019 GWS Sydney Zone 18 U12 boys' Comp. teams
2019 GWS Sydney Zone 11 U13 girls' Comp. teams

So that's an increase from 10 to 29 U12 or U13 teams in the GWS Sydney zone - slightly more than 2%!

Perhaps another topic for your obsession (or paranoia) might be the AFL ratings beating the NRL ratings on FTA in Brisbane last night.

5 years with millions thrown at club & grand total of 8 male teams created. Staggering growth alright.

I'm counting 26 seperate clubs (that's clubs, not just teams - most clubs have multiple teams) in the list below, covering the GWS Sydney zone (so not counting the Canberra and Riverina clubs). No way was there this many, or anywhere near it, when the Giants started -

How does a team playing out of Homebush, with very little support both live & watching on TV, increase grass roots in Western Sydney?
The process re: SE Queensland and two teams has already been explained to you. Apply that to the greater Sydney region

Every one is entitled to an opinion you might not agree with him but to label a troll is uncalled for some of his points about crowds and growth figures do have some merit
The evidence is there. He is a troll.

He posts about nothing at all other than the Giants. Have a look at his history.

I mean even you post about other things besides bagging the 2 expansion clubs.

you arent much better in threads involving expansion clubs.
The Giants are coming along nicely after a slow start.
Using perhaps the Swans as a rough guide because they have been up there a lot lot longer.
Their membership is at 60,000 and they attract likely average crowds at SCG of 30,000 so based on that the Giants with 30,000 members should be averaging say 15,000 crowds at the home ground but they are not at present but it is to be aimed for as a rough yardstick in the absence of any other measure.
However two very low key very rich American businessmen are carrying the sponsorship of the ground which augers well for the Club, and the club with its total sponsorship placing it in the middle of the AFL sponsorship pack is not going away anytime.
Apparently they have for the first time a junior team/teams in all of their districts in their Sydney region. Blind freddy can see that fact is very important for the clubs future.
This is Sydney we are talking about folks when not to far back the game was called gayfl because it was not considered masculine enough by the fans raised on Rugby diets.
