So a rest of sorts for JPK and Pyke with both of them attending slightly less centre bounces than their season percentage. Also good to see Robinson get a taste of it with 2 centre bounces.
Re: kick ins In 3 out of the last 4 games both Rampe and Shaw haven't taken a kick in (Rampe took 4 v Hawthorn and Shaw 1 v Hawthorn). The bulk of the kick ins is done by McVeigh now with Jetta and Laidler about equal second.

Hey Grim, could you explain what the percentages mean?
At first I thought it was how many times the player started in the centre square vs how many potential starts in there they could have had, but Robinsons percentage looks too low for that to be the case.

It's the number of times they've started in the centre square out of all the centre square bounces. There's been 235 centre bounces in Swans games this year, so e.g. Kennedy has been in there for 187 of those = 79.57%
Your idea of percentage of potential starts sounds interesting though, might integrate that into the stats.

One of the best things to come of the last few weeks is that McVeigh, Jetta and Laidler have become the only people allowed to take kick ins. No Rampe. No Shaw. No Grundy.

Really interesting that Mitchell is leading our average uncontested possessions. I reckon that says a lot about his development as a footballer since last year. He's not just an inside player anymore, his fitness must be through the roof to win so many uncontested possessions.

Things to note.
- Richmond are the best team in the AFL at restricting the opposition's numbers, in particular disposals (#1), uncontested possessions (#1) and marks (#2)
- They are also good at creating opportunities inside 50, ranked #3 for marks inside 50, but not quite as good at converting inside 50s into goals (#7)
- Their game style doesn't involve many ruck contests - ranked #17 and last for hitouts (34.2)
- Paging Leg End - Richmond earn 4 more free kicks per game (23.6) than the next best team North Melbourne (19.5)
- Swans continue to struggle with efficiency in attack - ranking in the bottom half for inside 50s per goal (24.1% - #14) and disposals per goal (29.54 - #13) but the defensive numbers continue to impress ranking #1 in opposition inside 50s per goal (19.4% vs #2 Fremantle's 21.6%), opposition goal kicking accuracy (50.8% v #2 Richmond's 56%) and opposition disposal efficiency (avg 69.8% v #2 Port Adelaide avg 71.0%)

Free against teddy in front this year that is pretty much ignored usually. Add to this the refusal to penalise defenders scragging buddy - it's ot good.
Penalising GRohan when he had run only 10 steps was a shocker.
This is why we go into every game basically 20 points behind - so a 9-2 record is superb.
yet the impression in Victoria is that we are the AFL's pet and umpires love us.
Idiots.

Wow at the contested marks differential we are almost bottom of the comp.
Would that be because Pyke/Tippett have declined in that area?

Our games just don't tend to have a lot of contested marks. We rank as one of the lowest teams for contested marks, yet only one game this year have our opponents taken more than us.
Could be due to the fact we almost always play with an extra player down back and therefore so do our opposition.
To me though playing with a man back just does not seem like a good idea. I mean I get it in theory but we have Lance Franklin and Kurt Tippett in our forward line who are both extremely good one on one (though for different reasons). Why would we not be trying to get them both in as many one on one contests as possible and back our defenders to be able to cope with their opponents one on one.

Who knows, but given how poor we are at winning clearances it could be because the opposition would simply still score more goals via having far more forward 50 entries than us.
That is true. It really comes down to the clearances as well. I mean if the Swans won the clearances more often than not and got a clean forward 50 entry then it would give us so many options and if Buddy and Tippett were both in that forward line one on one then I would really rate our chances of kicking a goal. The problem is we don't win the centre clearances and we give the opposition way to many easy forward 50 entries, putting our defenders under a lot of pressure.
Using this we can work out our best clearances players and the ones that are not doing enough. We just need to increase everyones percentage to 100% and see what their clearance numbers are

I am not sure I am doing these right though as they are all practically the same. If so it means we don't have a single clearance gun but rather 6 players that are all pretty much the same at clearances. In fact the worse clearance player of the 6 of them is the one who is in there the most.

I'm not sure what you're trying to do but the number is the percentage out of all centre bounces they've attended. Of course if you adjust everyone to 100% it will add up to 284

Crap. I was trying to work out the amount of centre bounces they have attended vs the amount of clearances they have actually won to figure out which of our midfielders is actually most productive when they are actually at the centre bounce.
