This thread convinced me to buy Subway tonight, but they were all out of Italian herbs and cheese bread. No joke, decreased the awesomeness of the sub. It wasn't the same

I've had it once. Like the idea of the joint, just the food didn't grab me. The bread was that sweet it almost tasted like a biscuit. I was watching Man vs Food the other night and he went into this sandwhich joint in San Fransisco called Ike's Place. Just looked awesome.

This is too true. If busy, I have been known to let people skip me in line to avoid people I know are shit!

If not busy, I have been known to go into the secondhand shop next door until someone else walks in

I always got the rather healthy option - Sweet Chicken Teriyaki on wholemeal, with Cheddar Cheese, Lettuce, Carrot, Tomato, and Pepper.

On the Teryiaki? I can't say I've tried it with anything other than the sweet onion.

Chicken schnitzel on foot-long multi-grain with lettuce, carrot, mayo and salt & pepper. Can be pricey though, anywhere between $10.50 to $13 depending on the store.

Went to order this in NZ recently, and to my horror Subway in NZ doesn't have chicken schnitzel OR muti-grain bread Made an idiot of myself when I kept repeating my order to the girl behind the counter who had NFI what I was on about, until my mate just casually pointed to the menus and said "take a closer look..." . It's bloody cheap over there though, their premium subs are only about $9NZ, when ours hover around $12AU.

You can get a nicer, healthier, and cheaper sandwich somewhere else if you live in reasonable civilisation. Subway is shit and tacky like all fast food, even if its somehow fashionable.

Had it about twice in the last year after going through college eating it way too much. I remember the day they took pineapple away and then bought it back and charged for it, they will never be forgiven!

That said when I do go there its usually the cheapo meatball or a chicken teriyaki with everything but olives and always on Italian herb bread

It's the odor of hunger itself.

I work a few doors down from a Subway. When I'm on the way to work in winter, and it's cold and getting dark, that Subway smell keeps me going.
