Don't agree entirely with Sam

I'd go:

B: Baguley, Hurley, Hibberd
HB: Goddard, Hooker, Tippa
C: Zaharakis, Myers, Stanton
HF: Langford, Daniher, Cooney
F: Bellchambers, Brown, Fantasia
R: Leuenberger, Heppell, Zach Merrett
I/C: Watson, Hocking, Hartley, Colyer

I'd like to see Hooker back at AA CHB, but the team may be better if we play Hooker forward, Hartley at CHB and drop Brown for Laverde or Francis

Laverde, Francis, Gwilt (yes, Gwilt), Gleeson Bird and Howlett would all be very stiff to miss out. Tippa and Bellchambers are probably two of the luckiest to be included but Bellchambers is quite solid no matter how maligned he is and the team just looks better with Walla having a run. Cooney is in based on his recent form only, can't ignore it as much as it galls me to still expect to see him on the field.

Going to be a pretty good looking team next year!
Surely Cooney won't be offered a new contract? He's filled a need last year and this year but with most/all of the suspended guys back + the youngsters + draft picks he would be clogging our list.

When Myers went down in round 1 last year, it had a huge impact on our stoppages.

And he kicks the ball at goal like Scotty bloody Lucas.
Yeah. David Myers. The most uncoordinated, ungainly, awkward looking player I've ever seen in my life. One sided. Can't take a mark above his head. But he's an absolute beauty! Contested ball and clearance machine, stands up in tackles, and kicks like a mule. Just got to stay fit. Really disappointed if he doesn't sign.

******* hell the talk around Hurley is exciting. As thrilled as I am about Hooker it's kind of out of the blue, I thought he was gone. But Hurley is a player who've I've invested so much in, and if he left I'd be absolutely shattered in a way I don't think I'd get from much else that is to do with footy. Seeing him turn up to EFC games is incredible, and if it's announced he's signed on I will be ******* so stoked

Heppell: "don't worry about me mate, I'm already locked away until 2020".

it's interesting isn't it. At what point do you relax that he is, in fact, "locked away"? I'd love for this to be the moment but I dare say he was deflecting and he's been very careful to be non-committal to a degree. I'd love to watch this footage for myself

Oh, is Cooney on two years or three? I thought three year deal?

Well, if he's on two then I doubt we'll offer him another year unless he plays for chips and some of the 12 don't return.

It just seems to me that the club and players are saving good news stories. Get smashed on Anzac Day roll out the hooker announcement.

Does Heppell even need to make an announcement - he's already contracted.

well that's my point. He's contracted, yet there's constant speculation based on an unproved contract "clause" that we don't even know exists in reality.

Yet Dyson himself is very careful with his language publicly - refer to what he said about Hooker. Talking about how he was pleased that Hooker could personally be confident to return, with the clear implication being that Heppell hadn't reached that point (although the reference to "process" was pleasing to me, reading between the lines)

Don't get me wrong, I'd be astounded if Hepp didn't return next year, but his language makes me a tiny bit concerned. Hopefully it is just a matter of keeping cards close to the chest, which personally I think is most likely

Robbo was very confident Hurley will return, he said 10/11 of the 12 will return.
Pears to retire, the only question mark is Jobe who is yet to decide.
If Robbo said it, thats good enough for me..
Need to look at it logically, if Hep where to leave, he would be voiding an opportunity to captain an AFL club..
