The only problem with this is the fact that our club culture has such a bad reputation, it would be hard to convince these seasoned players to come to us. Hawthorn and Sydney have no trouble recruiting players because they have a solid reputation.

Well we have 22 rounds to improve it as much as we can from here. There will be seasoned players out there who are on the outside looking in and would be happy for a change of scenery no matter where it is.

I'd like us to have a look at a few players from the Top 6 or so clubs and try and nab a player or two cheaply who have played senior footy but clearly can't nail a regular spot. Like a Shannan Byrnes type, someone who can add something to the list that we don't have while not costing us much in dollars or picks.

The Herald Sun is so over the top today linking us in with GWS & GC Suns as easybeats. We are not looking like sneaking into the finals by any stretch of the imagination, but we will not finish bottom three, mark my words

Just a question, given I haven't been able to catch a Melbourne game as yet, but has Neeld dramatically changed your game plan since last year, and if so, has this had much of an impact on the results so far this year?
Yes, yes.

But it's all Barry Prendergast's fault ;)

It's clear we need a couple more midfielders.
We're already getting Viney.
Doughty wouldn't be the worst pick up in terms of seniority, leadership and depth.
A strong type from the VFL would keep pressure on for spots (Simon Hogan/Shane Tuck perhaps?) and if we could get a running type in the ilk of Armfield, Byrnes, Ricky Dyson, Young, Ellis, Liam Anthony, Ladson (out of retirement), Swift.

The Swans were succesful at targeting fringe/out of favour players at other clubs who were AFL standard and could play a role for them - its what we need to do with the midfield IMO.

I think Byrnes would be a pretty easy target, especially with Motlop and Christensen looking best 22, and Varcoe and Stokes bound to be in the mix, I really can't see a spot for him going forward.

Not keen on Nicoski, but that might be due to mental scarring of poor performances playing for Subiaco (~2009) and he's no doubt a better player now.

Worth having a stab at Ash McGrath. Would give us a bit of mongrel and a proven goal kicker?

Nicoski I'm not keen on cos he's totally done his hammy and we'd want to see how he comes back.

Surjan and Byrnes would be promising, especially the latter.

Tried and failed. Admitting defeat today. What next??

Maybe, we did well in getting Matt Jones and Terlich. Both have done some very good things so far.
