I never go to the 'tourist' gold coast either. more to this place than the whole theme parks to broadbeach strip... in fact, that's the worst parts! but don't tell anyone. it makes money for the locals....Yeah nah I went Qld last year. Had a great time, but I need to go somewhere different.
Am over the theme parks too, went Movieworld and was just thinking the whole time "what the **** am i doing here". It's boring- our theme parks suck.

edit: but getting back to this thread - defn go to Sydney if you haven't been for a while. im sure some locals posting on here will help you with some tips. I try go sydney once or twice a year. I love to visit.
Shall be heading to Sydney next Jan for a holiday.
Recommendations for hotel/area to stay (probably CBD), things to do (not the bridge climb done it), and also a place to stay outside of the city on the coast.
Thinking Sydney 5 night, coast for 3 nights, then come home.
How far is the coast allowed to be away from Sydney? Seal Rocks is great but a fair hike
1-2 hour via train? And i wont have a car obviously
Hmmm, maybe somewhere in the northern suburbs of the Illawarra area like Austinmer, or somewhere like Kiama or Gerringong if you want to go a bit further.1-2 hour via train? And i wont have a car obviously
