Inspired by the sex ed bus in the other thread.
How old were you when your parents decided to have that talk? How did they approach it and was it as kack handed as my father?
I would have been about 13 when my father said to "Um, well, you're getting to that age, is there anything you want to ask?" Cue excruciating silence. "No" sez I and it was never spoken of again.
With hindsight I should have asked him if he was cool with me being a ****.

Never had the talk, was a pretty switched on kid, very smart, so I guess I already knew or had looked up what I needed to know.

This was 1986, and the worlds biggest repository of pornography had yet to be invented. I would imagine kids these days are far more savvy than I was back then.

70s/80s pr0n, when body hair ruled.

Never had the talk either. Also missed the "sex ed" in primary school because of illness. I don't have any recollection of when I found out all about it...
My first encounter with a parent talking about sex was when my mum found an empty condom wrapper in my room when I was 17, and came up to me and said "so, having sex, eh?".

had something similar happen to me too. that was more awkward than the talk! (i'd imagine anyway..)

No talk for me either. This is all you needed to be shown in school

Never had a planned talk or anything, I think my mum just chose to ignore the fact that I had come of age and Dad didn't really know how to approach the issue. He found the condom wrapper from when my girlfriend stayed over when I was 16 or 17 and on the car ride home from dropping her at the train station he just kinda went:
Dad: "So...I found the condom wrapper on the floor this morning. I threw it out, don't tell your mother"
Swallow: *Looking straight ahead* "Okay, good idea."
A few awkward moments passed
Dad: "So, is she okay then?"
Swallow: "Who? Mum?"
Dad: "No, *girlfriend's name*, they can get a little upset after their first...it was her first time yeah?"
Swallow: "Yes dad, she's fine"
Dad: "Okay, well that's good"
Swallow: "Yes"

Never had the talk. My Catholic primary school was quite progressive on this stuff, we got all the info on how sex worked in Year 5.

I honestly don't think I've ever heard either of my parents say the word 'sex'.

My ma went to a Catholic school in the 50s and their sex ed always seem to involve god as well, which she said made her even more confused.

Man, that would have been creepy.

I don't know if I just went to good schools, but the religion thing never came up except in RE. Like, in high school, we were taught how to use condoms etc. even though contraception is against Church teaching.

No talk either. Learnt at primary + high school.

I'm sure that story doesnt end there Igs... do tell us more, lol.

I never got the talk. I pretty much knew what to do when I lost my virginity.

I was either 14/15 and my GF was 13/14. Did it on my top bunk, was really enjoying it and then my little brother walked in wanting a drink.

Got him a drink and came back and she was getting dressed. Broke up a week later. Didn't get to cum.

It pretty much did end there :p. I said something like "oh..." and she walked away laughing, no doubt from the look on my face. haha.

I would laugh at you as well.

Had talk with my mum at 24 when told her why my housemate who she loved was moving out. We'd been shagging and she wanted more, couldn't live together anymore (did end up dating after she moved out for a year). Mum asked why she was moving, told her, she asked if she was my first. Bless her, was shocked to learn had been active when still living at home...

Don't underestimate the ability of parents to be wilfully blind!

Never had 'the talk' as such - Had sex-ed in year 6 so that answered most questions..

However, I still remember distinctly the time when it all clicked and it all made sense.. well.. in terms of a pure mechanical sense...

It must've been year 5, just before sex ed, and I was watching a movie that I can't recall the title of but basically involved some super sized insects taking on human form to infiltrate the human world while taking the form of the 'perfect American family' to fit into town... anyway.. there was one scene where the father insect (in human form) and his secretary thought it be a good idea to have sex on the office desk... As it was at work, I guess they decided to have a quickie, and keep their clothes on - The guy pulled down his zipper and the girl hitched up her skirt and they pelvis/crotch area met up. That's when I suddenly put 2 + 2 together .. It was literally a light bulb moment for 9 or 10 year old radiojake

Bit the same. Never had the talk and can't even remember finding out or realising.

But I remember my parents going away for a week and they said my girlfriend could stay over. I was about 16 and hadn't had sex yet and they basically said "she can stay as much as she liks, do what you want, but please be safe and don't be an idiot." They were as physically embarrassed as much as me. Uuuuuuughghgh
