Great to see Wojo back. If we make it through to next week, and if we play Hawthorn, he could be very valuable to our team. And his finals experience doesn't hurt either!

Even if we are a bit back heavy, we've got plenty of guys who could go forward if necessary.

Rapped with the side. Would love to have the Gambler in the side, but also love what Varcoe adds to the team. Can't wait for 2mw night!!!!

The Purrfect Pussies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'd agree with that. Stokes, Lonergan, Varcoe FWD line doesn't look so good.

That was exactly my thought when I looked through the team. I think the front line is the weakest link with Stokesy seeming to me not quite to be in his early season form and Travis and Tom still relatively inexperienced. I still reckon we will win well though as these boys will get a lot of opportunities to get their hands (and feet) on the ball...

I'm not happy with Johnson on the list either! Last seniors game he looked way out of his depth. Hopefully no injuries, everyone plays a blinder, and Chappy back next week.

These prelims are bloody nerve wracking!

disagree!! i went to the hawthorn game and without been spectacular i thought dj was servicable. His attack on the footy is first rate

They've all done their job for much of the year though.

Why is it all of a sudden we looked weak up forward? Because Chappy is out? He missed the second half against St. Kilda and wasn't a part of the 9-goal blast in the third quarter.

Chappy is the only regular out of the side, it is hardly a depleted forward line.

Perfectly said :thumbsu:

The lack of Gamble is ridiculously stupid but oh well still a good team.

Agree, Gamble has been great this season.. VERY unlucky!

Wojcinski must have really impressed on the track and/or Thompson thinks he's important to our structure this week, but he would wanna perform! Was it round 15 his last senior game??

You'd think (assuming we win) that the weaker performance from Wojo and Varcoe will mis the big one..

Don't think it's been mentioned, but would there be any thought whatsoever of bringing in DJ to sit on his bunny? Noticed he's named as an emergency.

I doubt it.I gather he's only an emergency because he's one of the only experienced mid-size players left [Tenace being the only other].

Gamble has averaged more disposals, marks and goals this year... and looks a lot more dangerous up forward because he marks strong, something that Varcoe can't do.

Don't underestimate the want for social/cultural acceptance.... if you get where I'm going. ;)

Yes..... nudge nudge, wink wink **** off redneck

Hope Varcoe has a good one, but in Chapman's absence I'd prefer Gamble. 3 or 4 blistering runs from Wojcinski wil do the heart a lot of good too. I hate night finals, generally tailor made for less skilled sides.

Very happy with those changes, hopefully kel and Wojack aren't too rusty. By the way Byrnes, Johnson, and Gamble are the emergencies....is it just me or does having byrnes on the emergency list make you feel just slightly uneasy.

Having DJ on the emergency list makes me feel uneasier.

Aye.

Looks like a good lineup to me. A bit surprised to not see Gamble in there but Woj is gonna be a must in the team if we were to end up playing Hawthorn so I'm fine with that change.

Looks pretty strong!

Why would you have three smallish players named as emergencies? I'm sure the whole idea of naming emergencies is so you have an appropriate replacement for anyone who might be injured at the last minute. What happens if Ottens, Blake, Mooney or Lonergan pull a hammy in the warm up? Wouldn't it make more sense to have Hawkins there instead of Byrnes? Even West or Mumford would make more sense than Byrnes!

what, varcoe isn't good enough to be in our 22

what

It may be the case but to hope a bloke who is putting on the blue and white hoops in one of the biggest games of the year plays a bad game is ****ing terrible form.

Heck even I was cheering for Shannon during the pointy end of the year.

Picked the best available team, Wojcinski and Kelly are [ obviously ] in our best 22 so were obvious selections, both need the run under their belts before the big one next week [ assuming we make it ] and providing no injuries Varcoe will/should be the one to make way when Chapman returns, think he can consider himself lucky to be playing tonight actually, still hope he plays a blinder though.
