without going into why the city was under siege and who was right or wrong, it is strange going to a place where citizens don't trust each other. What I find hard to understand is, in history:
muslim slavers came in and converted the peoples to muslim by force and enslaved those that wouldn't convert.
the christians (spanish) came in converting many by force and raping the wealth of the land
yet despite these well known facts by the Filipino people, they still remain so wedded to their religions and wedded to their divisions. Hopefully the new president can remove the rogue elements, provide a fairer deal to the regions and provide a stable platform for the community to heal.
