Oh as in "what makes someone become a terrorist?" type thing?

Yeah you would be pretty close to the mark. But when talking about young Arab youth living in Wahabbi communities the religion itself is the vessel of their insanity, so to speak. It gives a sort of approval to their group think, a legitimisation. They are raised to think of wealthy Arabs as the best race on earth by far, they look down on their other Sunni, even the other Wahabbis like the Pashto (which is why ISIS and the Taliban are fighting eachother).

Pay is still a huge factor as well as the group psychological damage the Israelis inflicted on the Arab world in the 1960s and 1970s by kicking their arse all over the middle east.
I think religion is more the justification of the act than the reason for it

Yeah it is a vital part of it. Without the religious approval of the Saudis, and the fact they use mosques as radicalisation centres, its unlikely to have spread as far.

Make no mistake though, the average middle class Saudi is a racist extremist who has been raised with a religion that absolutely fosters that ideology. Its why the vast majority of Sunni scholars and people have completely rejected the Wahabbi sect and dont endorse the so called Caliphate.

Plenty of murderers are not mentally deranged but just incredibly calculated. Saying all terrorists are mentally deranged is a dumb generalisations.

More likely they know exactly what they're doing and why.
I would say anyone who attends a Wahabbi mosque is mentally deranged from the reasonable person test point of view.

But they are probably completely normal for their community.

Its like when kids in poorer areas join gangs because all the other kids do. People from outside would say how stupid it is and they should go to school and get a job instead. But if your peer group is all going one way its very hard not to do the same. Now imagine if by going the other way you were also opening yourself to being executed by the Sharia police

I would say ALL followers of religion are insane.

The definition of a delusion is:

"a fixed false belief that is resistant to reason or confrontation with actual fact"

Completely agree, but that definition makes all us part time leftists deluded too.......just kidding.
Anyhow you'd think they must be running out of virgins up there.

I'll happily review any proof you have of terrorists being sane and not mentally deranged. Please provide.
yeah, ok, here is a good starting point, Dr George Habash, he was a Dr of medicine and leader/founder of the PFLP, and a Orthodox Christian. I wonder how he got a doctorate being mentally deranged?! perhaps you can provide proof? you'd be stunned to know that most of the "terrorists" that took up arms in the name of Palestine were Christians..still want to continue?

terrorists these days are nothing more than criminal opportunists..

Are you saying that someone who is deranged can't be intelligent? You seem to be suggesting that deranged is a sign of intelligence?
Charles Manson was deranged. He was also very very intelligent

Other than the first part I'm not sure how the rest relates to the post you quoted

This is a good point too.

If you look at the profile for Australian born fighters who travel to Syria to join ISIS the profile is more or less:

1. Not particularly devout through childhood, and recent converts
2. History of petty and or violent crime
3. Already well known to authorities
4. Very uneducated compared to the average in their home country

For at least a large portion, the chance to rape and kill is a huge draw factor. Just scumbags.

This is pretty much it, there are parts of bible which is extremely violent but is no longer taken seriiously. Islam needs reformation for that very reason, when you have mohammed, considered to be the most perfect man ever, could do nothing wrong, people can easily use him to justify pedophilia, murder, wife beating etc etc. People need to stop taking the quran literally

Says the apologist who cries "colonialism" every time and lies to support his argument, its a bit rich coming from you
I think you'll find my list of causes higher up in the thread, in which I don't have colonialism as the number one cause.

You may also have missed where I said the average Saudi is a racist bigot who entirely endorses jihad.

Oh yes, wahabbism is responsible for every single terrorist attack is it? maybe you can explain why those south thailand malay muslims been bombing peaceful thai people for 30 years? no colonialism, no wahabbism there.

Wait, no colonialism in malaysia?

Erm....

And those rebels are linked with the actual ISIS movement the south of Philippines and throuh the malay peninsula so wahabbism is definitely a factor.

Lol they are thai people, born in thailand but ethnic malay muslims. This is why i call you a simpleton, 30 years ago, before the war on terror, there was no wahabbism spreading like a cancer. They are south thailand separatists, they want thai muslims to have their own land, you need to read up on history and stop sounding like a broken record

Yes I'm aware of all this. They are ethnic malays. A border doesn't mean shit.

I know history, I also know current events.

You blame a vague notion of what you understand to be islam for everything, without knowing anything about what you speak.

Back to Ignore with you.

You know nothing, how many saudis do you know to make a sweeping statement about saudis like that? oh yes saudi arabia is a terrorist state that means your average saudi is a terrorist is it? that is the very definition of ignorance. naive people like you would blame everything on colonialism and wahabbism. I am far better travelled than you and i know what i am talking about, you on the other hand have NFI. Look at bangladesh,, philippines, heck even indonesia, terrorist groups have existed long before political islam came here, you need to read up on muslim brotherhood
