you would be surprised. The non light box big ones are bloody expensive, and take time to make. Don't know the details (not an engineer), but I think its because they are all custom designs that weigh a tonne. So not only are you dealing with all components being individually made, it has to be strong enough to not fall on your head while downing pots.

They don't take 6 months. If it's illuminated the time is probably more in the approvals time.

• Concept design: 2 weeks
• Engineering design / certification: 1-2 weeks
• Approvals process: 6 weeks +
• Fabrication: 6 weeks (more or less depending on manufacturers schedule)
• Installation: 2-3 weeks depending on getting power to the sign location

They weigh less than you would expect. It's probably an aluminium frame with a printed vinyl face. They have to find a place to put it on the facade though, a freestanding sign is much more expensive as it requires more strength.

No argument on approvals, I once spent three months going through 8 different designs mainly over nutty things every signatory came up with when it was gbrir time for sign off.

Also lead time design, build, and install will be effected by how much other work is in the pipeline. Speaking to someone in commercial construction the other day, their books are full and they are running flat chat, which is pushing out lead times for a lot of their work considerably.

Stig has already said this is jn the works, so it's obviously happening but does take time. I just don't get the "make it happen now ffs" belief some are pushing.
