GREATER Western Sydney tall Kristian Jaksch appears unlikely to get to his preferred club Carlton during the NAB AFL Trade Period, with talks between the Blues and Giants grinding to a halt.

AFL.com.au understands the door has opened for St Kilda and another Victorian club to ramp up negotiations with GWS, which has not made any progress in talks with Carlton.

Thoughts guys? Reckon the deal will get done?

Depends. Not going to overpay. My hope is we've offered 2nd rounder and stick to our guns. We're not talking Tom Lynch here.....

Still 9 days left of negotiations. Not sure we'd give up unless they're asking too much, and if they're asking too much, the Saints won't take him either.

If the suggested 'big fish' is from QLD the only player I could think of that fits the possibility would be Sam Day. However he's from SA. No other player from GC I can see leaving. Brisbane also don't have any players that look like 1. leaving or 2. big fish.

Sydney could mean potentially Reid (Which I don't regard a big fish) and Mitchell. GWS you could probably name the entire squad.

Ok I have finally come around to Jeffy leaving us. And if Melbourne is he club of choice then so be it and I wish him well. Better than Essendon now that Hird is back at the helm. Thought he might of headed to North Melbourne with Wells and Thomas plus he seems to play well with Waite.

Wouldn't dare...
I have a theory that Carlton is working furiously toward reducing our dickhead quotient.

Waite leaving after all the club has done for him, for a crappy club with no soul? Dickhead.
Garlett wanting to go to Melbourne? Hahahha - Dickhead.
I'm sure all the guys we delisted were dickheads too, but I haven't figured out why yet.
Robbo's a dickhead (though I do love his kamikaze streak), so he's 1000-1 to stay.

Bluella Garlett is not a dickhead, so take that back. Waite yes. Eddie wasn't a dickhead either. Fev was though.
I love Jeffy and really wanted him to stay. But it was a dickhead move to pick Melbourne (well, until I hear of a better explanation) and his dickhead behaviour a few months ago didn't exactly help matters.

Agree Eddie is not a dickhead - love him. Still cheer him on. Will cheer Jeffy on too, even though - I'll rephrase slightly - he is displaying distinct dickhead behaviours. Jarrad can go and get knotted.

What other parameters?

I understand the panel concept being too controversial. But surely pick 11 would be more appropriate them pick 3 for JF.
Simple. Money over amount X amount. Age over X. Term over X years......... etc etc.

Give me some time and even I could put forward a formula that everyone understands and one that would allow clubs to know what they have in hand before a player being released. FFS, it's not hard.

hmmmm. Is that a great deal for the saints? overrating Jaksch a bit.
Not really. The top 5 picks are seen to been more of a pick for a need base this year. Saints are looking at it as though they can potentially sure up the key position posts in the one draft.
