Injuries are an excuse up to a point but we need a bigger influx of players than just the 3 minimal changes come draft day. As I was trying to argue 12 months ago when effectively we had only one live selection (having pre-comitted to Rowe and Buckley).

2nd year in a row, any chance the Blues list management may be over-rating its list, whilst the list is okay it still has some gaps that need to be addressed.
Most definitely and this was the point I was getting at with the Malthouse interview. I'm expecting a more radical surgery at the end of next year when he's had 12 months in the job. I only fear that will be 12 months too late.

We used 41 players on the list this year and so far only 3 are gone thus far (Kerr, Thornton and Russell). Logic would dictate that for a team that finished 10th, further cuts will be needed.

My estimation of Mick will rise if he makes bold decisions in the next few weeks than just a 'steady as she goes' minimal changes hyperbole.

PERFECT OFF SEASON - IMO

1) Get Tippett... just his marking ability and even if only to take the #1 defender from Waite.
2) [hope Giles goes to Pies] This means GWS is give up a fair bit for Warnock 2nd rounder + Player [dom tyson?] OR Trade GC for Caddy + picks
3) Get Koby Stevens, wont take tooo much as he has left

This adds a much needed gun forward and 2 midfield depth players
I dont think we need too much more then that.... and most seems possible

We would only get one of Tippett and Caddy.
We wont get Tippett anyway.

Please do NOT get Tippett.

I know these rumours do not usually have much substance but I have heard that Gibbs may be involved in a trade to get Tippett. This is insane.

Tippett has been pretty ordinary this year and gets concussed every second game - he is turning into Kozi.
I might consider Tippett for pick 11 or Tippett for Lucas + 2nd round pick, but thats about it

I agree you need to keep improving in this competition or else you will get left behind, we still have question marks on quite a number of players such as Davies/Joseph/Rowe/Curnow etc and we should be certainly proactively seeking to address areas of concern and identify players that can improve these areas which Sydney has done so well.

The bolded part is the key Waite does not get on the park enough.

And hypothetically, what if he does, and Tippett doesn't, because he was knocked out at a summer training session by a stray mosquito?

Kurt was told by specialists he should take the year off around Round 17, because he was risking permanent head trauma, by playing through concussions

I hope we make a big play for Tippett. His second half of the year was disappointing but he was affected by the several concussions. I don't think anyone can doubt his talent. He's an excellent contested mark and his kicking, whilst not great, has improved. He would be a valuable asset for us. He would take a lot of pressure off Waite.

We need to do everything in our power to attract him to our club.

Its a stretch, [honestly think Taylor Walker is a gun regardless] but did Tippett make him a better player because he took a good defender away?

I know you shouldnt really pay a ‘decoy’ $500-$700k py... but if that decoy still kicks 2-4???

If Carlton do make a play for Tippett, I hope Tippett nominates Carlton as his preferred club. This way, we will have some leverage in negotiations (as opposed to the last time we traded with Adelaide - Sam Jacobs - and basically had no choice but to take some mid range draft picks)

Tippett would only be worth it for the sake of cowboy trading the Crows. 'We had pick 11 on the table for 5 minutes, you didnt take it - so heres our 2nd and 4th rd picks'. Would be a good get as a free agent, but poor value as a trade. Move on.

Any word on Koby Stevens from Weagles?

Worth a punt on him? Still only young, no injuries thus far. Maybe we could get him cheap, MM can get him focussed and we'll get a bit more mid filed depth.

Thoughts???????

If we can land a decoy capable of kicking 40-80 goals.......certainly sign him up. How many did this years Coleman kick? And at $500-700k............bargain.

There is no way on earth the pies could afford Tippett. If they somehow managed to land him the AFL need to march down and have a look at there books.
I hope the AFL can read crayon. I doubt there'd be many flogs down there with their pen licences.
