So a player who is contracted for next season is being shopped around half way through the season. Interesting if true.
A player who can't break into a team with the 4th worst defence in the league.

Watson is only of value to us if Mick is prepared to play him.

I don't quite agree with that.

Maybe we shouldn't have bothered with Docherty either, as he only had a dozen games behind him and missed for form and injury.

I know you VFL watchers have great faith in Watson.

But if Malthouse rates several others ahead of him in the pecking order and another club are genuinely interested then better for the player to receive opportunities elsewhere.

(Particularly if we were to recruit a free agent like Frawley)

.......... but it's not about me.

I didn't have any faith in Hampson after watching some insipid VFL performances last year............Richmond had faith though.

GWS may see a way to use him that we haven't or won't. You just don't know.

Pretty shameful that Lucas, Watson and Bootsma 1. have been unable to break into the senior team and 2. are all unlikely to be at Carlton next year.

You'd hope that at least one of those first rounders (compromised drafts aside) would have turned into a best 22 player by now. *sigh*

Getting Patton for Watson would actually be a win for us.

Jamison is coming towards the end of his career. So I expect to see us try and get another tall defender type this year. Rowe and White are doing good as the second and third defenders respectively. We have McInnes as backup to White and we could, at this point in time, possibly use Giles as cover for Rowe (even though he really isnt ready yet...).

Patton would allow us to use Waite as cover for next year and allow Lachie and Casboult to continue their roaming ways. I think that getting Jaksch would require us to continue to play Waite as one of our 3 main forwards next year while we finish putting some polish on him.

This thread is like a game day thread with Menz going full turbo on the ground... The pants might be flying across the room.
Speaking Menz, although he had a relatively quiet game (bar that 3rd quarter) I reckon he could get the rising star nom this week.

Charlie Cameron or Daniher are his competitors. However both forwards (like Menz) each kicked 3 goals only - despite Menz only kicking 2 himself, he never got a nom when he kicked 3 goals twice.

I reckon it's Daniher's unfortunately. That's the best I've seen him play, he had a cracker.
