Port traded for Shultz and Monfries who are arguably there most important cogs in the forward set up. They managed to see something in both of those 2 that I reckon the rest of the footy world didn't.. I for one thought Monfries was rubbish. Perhaps there are similar options floating around the AFL ready to be shown some love, make them work hard and they could fire up in a navy blue jumper.. I cant think of too many names but maybe someone like a Josh Jenkins could do a similar job for us.
Shulz yes, Monfries no. He's been a handy pick up but Port have won comfortably enough without him (12 goals from 8 games in 2014) Westhoff, Wingard and Gray are more important up forward than Gus.

*sigh* its situations like this that demonstrate why the AFL needs to start introducing the trading of future draft picks such as in the NBA and NFL (protected and up to two years in advance only).

Its hard to legitimately facilitate a trade with a team for a promising player with only a limited number of picks available. It causes teams to overpay rather than get market value for a player.

Not rumors just my thoughts, Shiel and Jaksch for Krooz should just about be right. I'd do Lucas for Morabito if he's tired of waiting for a game and Garlett for Richmond's first rounder and swap it for Swan's Micthell who must be fed up too and disenfranchised players must nominate us as the preference.
Ciao.

He is a playing assistant coach at Glenelg in the SANFL under Nick Stevens as head coach. Glenelg are last. Thorp has been playing at CHB, with cameos forward and in the ruck. Hard to gauge based on reports.

Glenelg have been on the SANFL match of the day 4 or 5 times this year which is a joke in itself as they are stone motherless last, being in a crap team has obviously has not helped Thorp, still he has been ordinary to say the least, struggled to get a kick in the forward line and has been shunted to defence.

Apples and oranges. Thorp merely represented an opportunity to add a KPP to our list which was already threadbare. His name could have been Balki for all it mattered.

I just work off a basic formula. 4 KPPs per side, 1 ruckman, 1 back up ruck who can fill a spot in a pocket when not rotating on or off the bench. That's 6 talls in a team of 22. For my money that represents 12 talls in a squad of 44. You ideally want 6 quality talls with the others experienced stop gappers or developing youngsters.
This will be me if we draft one of Durdin/Wright/McCartin.

Carlton. Quick google search - James Golds - player Development and welfare manager.
He's alright, James Golds. Quite harmless but a bit of a fuddy duddy.
He's the one who organises their team builds and stuff. Doesn't have much of a filter when he's talking.

Theres zero chance morabito would leave freo after they have stood by him through 3 consecutive knee recos.
Garlett for Richmonds first round pick is a joke. They will have a pick in the top 10, and Garlett would only be worth around pick 20-35.

With Murphy, Gibbs, Yaz, Menzel, Henderson and a few more we have a decent core.
Let's not give picks away unless it's for a few gws guns or Tom Mitchell.
I would like to start putting in the hard yards and build this club the way it should be built.
We need to trade off a few best 12-25 players and bring in as many 2nd and third round picks. Upgrade them if we can and put our faith in Rogers.
We really only have a few A grade players and now is as good a time as any to build this team.
1st pick. One of the big forwards.
2nd pick, best available mid who can kick!
3rd more of the 2nd!
Would really like us to have 5 picks in the top 40. 3 must be in the top 30.
