I love Kreuzer and hate the idea of him playing for another club but if we're fair dinkum about becoming a top team then nobody can be untouchable. Kreuzer's output has been very underwhelming and while you can't replace his love for the club, if we can snag a high quality player by trading him then...sorry Matty.
Exactly. It's a cut-throat business these days and we can't just keep guys because they love the club or are great clubmen. If it's best for the list then hard calls should be made. I'd much rather be a serious top 4 side and step on toes than be a nice club like the Bulldogs and Kangaroos are perceived to be and not get anywhere

That is the problem Kreuzer has been underwhelming due to injuries, we would get very little for him, noway a high quality young player.

The best we can do with/for Kruz is give him time to get his injuries under control and hope his huge upside can show.

Maybe this is why we are rushing him back this year.....just trying to up his trade value a bit?

Disclaimer: I am not advocating we trade him.

If we rush him back and he breaks down again it puts his pre-season in jeopardy and we can probably write off him having a good 2015 season. We need to get something from him in 2015 whether that's for us after a full pre-season or after securing a good trade

Then why dont we trade Smurph or Gibbs now? they would have to be worth more than Kreuzer can get us at this point.

One of those two would ensure that we got either Cameron or Patton.

I'm all for making shrewd business decisions to become a contender again but trading Kruezer isn't one of these decisions. Great clubmen (which is what kruezer is) are invaluable to an organisation. He's a Collingwood supporter who will bleed navy blue that to me shows more character than Docherty.
The club cannot trade/sell Kruezer because I fear the ramifications will go deep into the next decade, I agree we must rise up the ladder but we need to do it in an honourable manner.

I love Kreuz as much as the next Carlton supporter, he showed loyalty to stick with us when he could have gone to GWS and been on the big bucks .... but, if you told me we could have Patton by offering Kreuzer up in a package I'd be all over it.

I don't know why they would even consider bringing Kreuzer back this year, especially now that our season is shot. Absolutely nothing to gain from Kreuzer taking the field this year but plenty to lose should he break down again.
Leave Matty on the shelf, make sure he's set for a full pre-season and elevate Wood and give him a few games to see what he might offer us.

Because both just signed long term contracts. Not to mention that we have terrible midfield depth so trading one of our guns for a tall player doesn't really help us all that much.

Nobody should be off the table, but getting rid of one of these two without replacing them with a gun midfielder would probably see us go backwards, even if we had Jeremy Cameron in our forward line.

Not going to happen, but a word of warning. MM would have as much issue with Cameron's defensive pressure as he does with Waite's.
So many on here want to magnify or even invent fault with our own, but are oblivious to the traits of those they blindly covet.

Surely Jaksch is the target, but if a miracle was nigh Boyd and Patton way ahead of Cameron from a team prospective.

Yep, Cameron's forward pressure is truly appalling. Was talked up to quickly on the back of last season. Would much prefer Patton over Cameron.

Is this the same Cameron who almost won the Coleman last year as a 19year old

Patton looks like he could become a very good footballer - Cameron looks like he has the potential to be a great footballer

Kruezers latest injury wasnt really his fault.

Responsibility was on the club/club doctors for not sending him into surgery during the off-season. They took the gamble to let him rest it and hope it went away which clearly backfired.

Cameron can always learn and add a defensive element to his game, but you can't teach the talent he has.

Patton and Cameron will both be stars of the AFL (unforeseen circumstances permitting) Cameron's ceiling is higher for mine.

First approach would and should always be conservative. Unfortunately there are no guarantees.

What if I told you there was a chance to get pick 1 last year for Kreuz but the board refused to do the deal....despite Mick wanting to.

He had surgery the week of the semi final v Sydney and as such was in a moon boot for most of preseason.
