I've been sticking up for Spence

Yeh he is one of those big guys that looks uncoordinated all the time but he has proven he can run pretty fast and cover the ground well (it just doesnt look like it!). and a couple of the players (Tmc and Jones from memory) in the last couple of weeks have mentioned how much they like having in the team and how hard he is working, so he must be doing the team things as well. At this point all I want to see is 100% effort all game and he is doing this.

Exactly, he has some brain fades but puts in and is an absolute beast

Here are ten goods things I take from a miserable year.

• Mitch. Provided he develops some common sense and stops trying to kill himself whenever he flies for the ball.
• The Jones boy. Development is possible at the MFC.
• McDonald. He sweated it out to make it to the AFL. I love his endeavour. The disposal will sharpen up.
• Blease is going to be a beauty. Again, more thought-power is required.
• Howe - the new birdman. What a weapon.
• Jack Watts played some super footy this year. Comparisons with a certain WCE rock-star are becoming irrelevant.
• Get Steff Martin on the park and he will contribute.
• Fresh from his best game of the year, Tapscott is clearing bubbling along nicely.
• Rivers has been rock-solid all year
• The Judas game was great fun and it will be even bigger next year.

Watts has been impressive down back this year, big improvements. Also if Strauss and Tapscott, with their excellent long kicking skills, can start running off half back things will be looking up sooner rather than later.

• We have some players who aren't our 1st draft pick and are looking like they will be gems.
• We have managed to develop Jones (or Jones has managed to develop himself, in spite of our best efforts).
• I still like Neeld. (Edit: no homo)
• Jack Viney en route.
• Mitch.
• Beating Essendon was great. Just... just great.

Daniel Nicholson should be a big positive as well IMO.

Probably the biggest positive is that Jack Grimes has finally stayed on the park and on top of that is playing great footy.

He has played all but 1 game and is averaging 23 disposals and he hasnt missed a beat despite a horror run with injury.

So glad to have him back!

Still needs to eliminate the token left-foot out-on-the-full kick (every week!)... Doesn't help that we are so terrible obviously, but still. Apart from that, massive positive from the year. Fingers crossed he stays on the park all pre-season and beyond.
