As a uni student living away from home, toast makes up 40% of my diet. A light brown with vegemite is the staple.

I went to the supermarket this arvo and was considering getting some Cream Cheese. I loved going to my pops and eating that stuff. I would've been about 9 when it was all I wanted to eat.

Now though, I'm really feeling like some peanut butter at the moment...

Been coeliac the last ten years

I miss toast sooo much - margarine and vegemite ftw

still occasionally do gluten free bread but it is certainly not the same and there is a hole in my life where vegemite used to be..... have had to fill that void with marriage...career...life... etc but it is just not the same :p

My grandparents have a wood fired oven. As a kid was nothing better than getting up and cooking toast by the fire. Homemade jam made with homegrown raspberries, strawberries, apricots to top it off.

I'm partial to toast done until it's just starting to brown with butter and golden syrup myself. Can't stand cold buttered or excessively toasted though, parents etc. get annoyed with how often i pop the toaster up to check it.

Dont even remember the last time I've had untoasted bread.. all my sandwiches are made using slices of toast.

Best toppings: cream cheese and smoked salmon. just heaven.

Happy to just have a tin of sardines and 2 slices of toast for brekkie.. bit over spreads atm after living on nutella/peanut butter/vegemite all through high school.

I actually pop the toaster 3-4 times when making toast, and rotate the bread to get it even. Maybe my toaster is just shit though.

Need it well crisped, not burnt obviously. With crunchy peanut butter, people that have smooth sicken me.

Nothing better than getting home after a huge night and firing out the toaster.

Love this thread. Here are my experiences:

Usually will have vegemite with a decent slap of butter. Toast is close to burnt most times, probably because of the settings left on the toaster. Always with a coffee. :thumbsu:

However, after being at the missus' over the weekend, I was made barely-toasted vegemite toast on white bread. Was actually so much better than burnt. Has persuaded me to turn down my settings once and for all.

Love jam (raspberry or strawberry), honey, peanut butter (crunchy or smooth) and nutella. All are simply orgasmic when I'm in the mood for them.

White bread is the best, wholemeal is just as good. But multigrain (I think?) is an absolute nightmare for vegemite. Will just end up scrapping half the bread of it.

Always make two pieces at a time (usually have a four all up), and cut it straight down the middle into even rectangular pieces.

Raisin toast with butter is actually the s***. Simply awesome.

Will have to try Plugger35's idea of the melted cheese and barbecue sauce on toast. :thumbsu: I also feel obligated to do the American "peanut butter and jelly" toast.

Vegemite on my toast washed down with a hot cup of milo , the sweet milo after a bite of vege is um mmmmmmm

White bread mildly toasted with Avocado,Asparagus & sliced Swiss cheese. Canned smoked tuna & peanut butter also works for me.

Lightly spread vegemite on well cooked toast. Beautiful.

Melted peanut butter on crumpets is superb as well :thumbsu:

Two slices brown bread.

Left over indian food
(really doesn't matter what kind, but chicken jalfrezi, or a homemade curry with mince and chickpeas are the greatest. Have had good results with a shit hot beef vindaloo also)

Toasted sandwich of the gods.

Words cannot describe just how perfect this is in a toasted sandwich maker- when done correctly the bread soaks in all the sauce as it gets hot, then crisps nice and brown, and gets an awesome spicy but smooth on the mouth taste that allows you to munch your way through a curry which would normally have you running for the toilet midway through. You can add a slice of kraft cheese if you want to take it to insane levels of decadence, but it really isn't necessary.

****, now I want one.

Not quite toast, but toasted bagel with cream cheese is beyond amazing (am not American either)

Otherwise, white toast with butter, come at me bro

But by far the greastest food ever is toast, tomato, avocado, boccincini and oregano. Grill for 20 seconds for the boccincini to melt. My favorite food in the history of ever

And now I'm hungry. Bye

This thread is making my mouth water.
I like my toast well done almost to the point where it's burnt.
Either have crunchy PB where it melts, vegemite whenever i am feeling patriotic and another winner is jam and tasty cheese

Have to agree.

Coffee shop at UNSW used to run a toasted bagel and coffee combo for $4.50. Had plain quite a few times but blueberry bagel works very well too.

I usually like wholemeal thick slice, toasted till medium brown, decent layering of Crunchy peanut butter, and cover with some freshly grated Cracker Barrel cheddar.

Goes great with a cold glass of milk :thumbsu:

Vegemite on toast is the shit. Only way I can eat vegemite...

That makes one more way than I can eat vegemite. Cannot stand it.

Because of my food allergies, I grew up with Nuttelex as my primary spread, and let me tell you, that shit is like crack.

Apricot jam and strawberry jam are probably my other favourites, although Golden Syrup rates right up there. I'm a fiend for toast/bread though, so I'll eat just about any leftovers on toast. Spag boll on toast = awesome.

Toast with extra virgin olive oil... where are you in this thread. If there is nothing in the fridge or you don't feel like eating crap, try this. Guess its in my culture...

I use an olive oil butter. That sort of counts :p

Partly melt butter over the toaster while I'm waiting for it, hate unmelted butter on toast. Pizza sauce with a bit of cheese goes alright under the griller, sometimes have strawberry jam with a bit of cream or marshmallow spread under the griller
