Now i realise that this is going to get the do gooders here a little angry, but last night was an absolute disgrace. I know that the chorus of 'We were away from home' and 'do you expect us to win every week' will come loud and clear. But FFS, defensively we aren't league one standard,

Alan Smith too. What does he ever actually do? Just gives away fouls and yaps at the ref. Grrrreat!

I said that a little bit back and was shot down in flames, finally someone who watches him for what he is.
And geremi can just f*** off

If you're referring to me as one of the do gooders you have it wrong.

Last night was a disgrace, and even though I didnt expect us to win (cos we never win the games we should) I was still angry with the way we played.

The away form is no good, something has to be done, and Sam has to take the blame for last night IMO. Playing 4 central midfielders in midfield

He took the easy option, he needs to take the hard one and drop one (or even two) of the central midfielders from the starting lineup.

Alan Smith gets through a lot of work, he's one that divides opinions, but I'm a fan of the work that he puts in for the side.

Geremi - Well last night wasn't a good match for him, or anyone for that matter. The decision to make him captain really was astounding, because although his versatility and his ability to play a number of positions well is handy, I personally don't think he's in our best XI.

I will send anthrax to St.James if any of the following happens again.

1. Geremi plays another long ball

2. Geremi takes a free kick

3. Geremi has another shot on goal

4. Geremi sh its him self when a shadow approaches

5. Geremi wears the arm ban

6. Geremi does anything that remotley resembles trying to be creative

The following also applies to original statement.

7. We play anymore long balls to Michael Owen

8. We sub Martins off anytime before the 90min mark

9. We sub Owen before Martins

10. Alan Smith ever plays in the midfield again

11. I ever see Alan Smith yell abuse at the Ref when he tries to kill an opponent with his pathetic tackling technique

12. Rozenhnal does not start again at CB

13. I read another statement by BSA quoting his scientific, fact stat bull shi t, 'Oh if the ball gets into this area this many times then it means we score 5 goals a game'

14. Butt doesnt pin back his ears (its annoying you twat)

15. Stevey Taylor doesnt at least get his chance back at RB (His 21 for fuks sake Sam, let him develop he is the future of the club)

16. If Fat Sam could worry more about the tactics of the match instead of sitting their chewing his gum like he is an Enthupian seeing KFC for the first time.

Anymore to add lads??

You are kidding me arent you? Same ole excuse hey, yes Cacapa and Faye may have had an off night but one bad performance... i mean you dont need to throw your bottle out of the pram. You cannot tell me we have improved dramatically in defence this season.

I love the anger. Yes we didnt play well but it is early days. Reading were a top 8 side last year and shouldnt be taken lightly despite the fact we have a far better side on paper.

Geremi is captain of the side whether you like it or not. Vanders was the captain of Hawthorn this year and i dealt with it. It is only a title given to someone, get over it. He will stay in the side there is no doubt.

Clearly we play better when we have some width and Milner and Zog need to play. That will come.

If we had Dukes playing last night i think we would of played much better with his holding the ball ability and his ability to win the ball in the air.

I always expected us to lose that game as it was winnable, maybe it is why i am taking it so easy. At the end of the day we are still a game behind a few teams and 4 points away from even more, which isnt much in the scheme of things. At the end of the season it might tell but for now i say get over it and look to the next game.

The thing is we havent played Arsenal,Man U,Chelsea or Liverpool yet. Anyone with half a brain would realise we will most likely lose all 4 of thise with only the Liverpool game with a chance of getting anything from. When you look at it that way our start has been far from great, lets just see how good we are after we have played those 4.

I cant really see happier times ahead than what we are experiencing atm, this is as good as it gets lads.

Liverpool @ Home - Will be a good game, we are more than capable of winning the way they're playing at the moment and the way we're playing at home.

Arsenal @ Home - They're in cracking form but surely it's all gotta end soon. It'd be just like us to beat them. It's also our game in hand on most teams.

Chelsea & Man Utd away - We will lose.

Exactly what i expected, Doesn't anyone think we are better than these clubs? Reading, Wigan etc?? or do we just accept that 'they played well' and 'the sun will still rise in the morning'

You forget, there are no easy matches in the English Premier League.

We are better than Reading, and should be beating them, but an off day will result in the other team winning.

Newcastle striker Mark Viduka will miss Saturday's home clash with Portsmouth as he continues his recovery from a calf problem.

The 32-year-old Australia international has not played for the Magpies since limping off at half-time in the 3-1 Barclays Premier League defefat at Manchester City on September 29.

Defender Abdoulaye Faye is fit after being taken ill during the 2-1 defeat at Reading last weekend, but Stephen Carr (hamstring) and Damien Duff (ankle) are still out.

Sulley Muntari and Hermann Hreidarsson look certain to miss out again through injury.

It could mean another chance for Pedro Mendes and a recall for Matt Taylor while Muntari - just one booking away from a ban - rests a hamstring problem and Hreidarsson faces more treatment on a torn groin muscle.

Papa Bouba Diop is clear to play despite a fifth yellow card of the season against Blackburn in midweek. His ban kicks in against Manchester City next Sunday when fellow midfielder Richard Hughes is available after a three-match suspension.

Striker Kanu is recovering gradually from a knee injury suffered five weeks ago and league top-scorer Benjani looks set to lead the attack once more.

Teams:

Newcastle: (from) Given, Harper, Beye, Enrique, Rozehnal, Taylor, Cacapa, Faye, Milner, Geremi, Butt, Emre, N'Zogbia, Barton, Smith, Pattison, Martins, Owen, Ameobi.

Portsmouth: (from) James, Ashdown, Johnson, Campbell, Distin, Taylor, Utaka, Diop, Davis, Pedro Mendes, Kranjcar, Benjani, Kanu, Pamarot, Lauren, Nugent, Traore, Muntari.
Pleasing to hear that they have no Muntari :thumbsu:

I'd imagine a line-up similar to last week, although I wouldn't be surprised to see Cacapa miss out in place of Rozehnal and Smith/Ameobi to start up front instead of Martins.

Nicky Butt is in talks about extending his Newcastle career beyond the end of this season.

The midfielder is out of contract in the summer but Sam Allardyce hopes to persuade the former Manchester United man to stay at St James' Park.

Butt has become a key figure for the Magpies since Allardyce's arrival having made 10 Premier League appearances this season.

Newcastle have opened contract negotiations with the 32-year-old after his solid performances in midfield.

"Talks are going on. He is someone I'd like to stick around," Allardyce said in The Mirror.

"He has played in virtually every game this season and has been one of our best performers.

"I'd like to give him another one, maybe two year contract.

"In terms of fitness we can prolong his career with the tools and expertise we have here, like we did with Gary Speed at Bolton.

"Nicky has still got a lot of destroying quality in his play and he's only 32."
:thumbsu::thumbsu:

I'd be all for this, he's shown he still has quality playing time left in him. The only bad thing about his game is that he's slow, but his pace has never been one of his strong points and he makes up for it in other ways.

First 11 minutes was very ordinary, the next 34 were actually quite decent and we were the better side, unfortunately you cant give sides a 3 goal head start.

Defence looked horrid for the first 25 odd minutes, we where way to loose and Cacapa looked out of his depth. Rozehnal looked good and should always be our number 1 CB and I though Taylor was almost our best last noight despite making a few mistakes.

We really struggle without Viduka in the line up, Alan Smith provides nothing, Joey Barton improved despite some erratic passing and Nicky Butt worked hard but I think the game has gone past him. Michael Owen never got going but the high ball garbage BSA wants to play doesnt suit his style, I though Zog was also very dangerous.

I am not surprised by the loss or even the flogging, we showed against City that when we play against a fast side that breaks on the counter we are very vulnerable, BSA has needs to get some speed in the middle of the park. Whilst Milner always gives 100% and is becoming a very good winger he is not very quick for his position.

Overall the loss was nothing more than what I expected, expect us to hover around the 10-14 mark for the rest of the season.

Portsmouth are a team full of big black men.

We play the long ball, it falls straight into these big black mens hands.

They were too strong for us.

NUFC, YES.
Shocker.

Steve Harper - The grey in the kit he had on must've been concrete. Looked fat, slow and underdone. Yeah the first was unstoppable, but looked unsure with his positioning for the second, hopelessly marooned for the third and deflection/unsighted or not, should've at least got something on the fourth.

'Luis' Enrique - Unusually poor after a promisingly solid start to his NUFC career.

Alphabet Faye - Tried hard but looked shellshocked after the opening 3 goal barrage.

Cacapa - As great a personal disaster as Boumsong's shocker against Man Utd a few years ago, when he went from cyborg to Cygan in the space of 20 minutes. Hopefully he can bounce back from this, but given the circumstances and the manager's complete lack of faith in him to even see out the half, you'll have to wonder if he won't be on the slowboat back to Brazil. I mean really, this was Pompey at home, how's he going to cope at OT or the Emirates?

Stevie Taylor - Looked OK in patches, looked a bit lost in others. Poor effort in OGing the fourth. Generally tried too hard I thought.

Charles N'Zogbia - Dangerous running with the ball at his feet as always, otherwise not much else as always.

Nicky Butt - Easily our best in what was the old Gary Speed fulcrum role with a few meaty challenges thrown in.

Joey Barton - I really hope he's just underdone and unused to the style of play (what style of play?). Looked absolutely shit. Would've got more out of Brian Kerr, Jamie McClen or Jamie Coppinger last night.

James Milner - Tried awfully hard as ever but struggled to put in a meaningful cross or get behind Glen Johnson at all.

Michael Owen - Snooze. Yes the style is shit and doesn't suit him - at least when he doesn't have a Shearer or Heskey to play beside - but when he plays for us he seems to lose a yard. Make of that what you will.

Alan Smith - 6 million well spent.

Subs

David Rozenhal - Would be well within his rights to come down with a case of the Marcelinos.

Emre - Is due for his next good game in mid-December. Keep holding your breath til then.

Obajet - Will leave in January and don't really blame him.

Is anyone getting annoyed with Sam Allardyce and his fuki ng chewy gum?? the guy needs to wipe that smirk off his face before every game and stop sitting their like his the *** ing Prime Minister of England and worry about changing the fortunes of the club.

Dont get me wrong I dont mind the guy, his probably the best manager we have had since SBR but gee he is hardly world class and he irritates me alot with how he holds him self.

You could be on to something there moomba :D

In all fairness, I think your summary is very harsh on him DT.

After the first 15 minutes, he started to pass the ball around nicely and show us what he can do. Would have him as close to our MOTM actually.

Guess it just shows how different people rate people differently.

Positives: Steven Taylor playing well, David Rozehnal showing why he should be our starting CB.

How good is Mike Ashley?

"It looks as if owner Mike Ashley has taken our advice about coming with the lads and is set to watch the game from the away end, having travelled on the club buses!" From .com

HUGE game tonight! Words cannot describe how important this game is for us and the team.

Oh and here is the story from soccernet;

Toon owner to sit with away fans at derby

Newcastle's millionaire owner will join his club's fans in the away end at Sunderland tomorrow because he wants to wear his black and white shirt.

Mike Ashley will forego the pleasures of the directors' box at the Stadium of Light and join the 3,000 travelling Newcastle fans, because he did not want to cause problems for the hosts by wearing his top among the red and white supporters.

Much has been made during the build-up to the Wear-Tyne derby as to whether Ashley would wear his black and white shirt, which has striker Alan Smith's name on the back, for the game.

The sports retail entrepreneur likes to show his affinity to the Newcastle fans by wearing the same replica shirts that helped make his fortune.

His Sunderland counterpart Niall Quinn said he did not mind what Ashley wore, but there were concerns from police and club officials that some supporters would find it an inflammatory gesture in a game which is one of British football's most passionate.

Newcastle chairman Chris Mort said today: 'Niall understands Mike wants to wear his black and white shirt for this game more than any other, but does not want to cause anyone at Sunderland any problems.

'As a result, Mike has decided to watch tomorrow's game with our fans behind the goal.'

Ashley was once thought of as a recluse, but since he bought the club he has repeatedly appeared in the directors' box wearing his team's kit.

Earlier this year he was initially refused entry to a Newcastle nightclub because he was wearing the black and white stripes, until a senior member of staff recognised the multi-millionaire and let him in.

He bought everyone in the club a drink and tipped the staff heavily.

The Blu Bambu club changed its policy, so now customers can wear football tops, as long as they can prove they own the club.

Half time and we should be down 3 or 4-0, I hate the way we play I am starting to hate SA as well. All this long ball garbage is fuking annoying to watch, Michael Chopra is getting some decent service along the carpet and the guy is killing us and good on him.

If our 2nd half doesnt improve then I would like to see the scum put 3 past us and have SA sacked, nothing like a bit of old NUFC knee jerk decision making..... get rid of the fat twit.
