Seems we are now going for Bent as our main target (some rumours of Remy though now).
 
I have no idea what's happening with our transfers - seems we have a bit of a scattergun approach.

Last night we got linked to Kone from Wigan but this morning reports say we are distancing ourselves from him.

Reports in France we want Gomis from Lyon (we were linked with him a few years ago - can remember him being touted as the next Drogba at the time).

We officially signed our first player too - French Under-17 international Olivier Kemen from Metz. Safe to say this will be one for the future.

Abeid is apparently close to joining Millwall and there are reorts that Ferguson will be loaned to Birmingham or potentially sold to Wolves for 1.25m odd
 
Also, Kinnear said we were going to sign someone before Friday in one of his interviews. Assuming it isn't Kemen, we may have someone by tomorrow morning (somehow not holding my breath though!)

Pardew has confirmed he wants Bent and Remy (rumoured it would be Steven Taylor plus 6m but thankfully that is looking unlikely now).

Betting agencies have put us as the favourites to sign Sinclair from City (not sure why as I haven't seen any articles about it previously). Would certainly have him though!

Apparently we are about to sign Jeroen Zoet (GK) from PSV for 2.5m

Pardew has told PSG to put up or shut re Cabaye - make a bid or stop trying to unsettle him.

Been a while since I've posted any updates.

  • No new players as yet but rumours we are getting close to a few (Bent, Gomis and Remy are the ones being mentioned) won't hold my breath though!
  • Gosling proposed transfer to palace has fallen through.
  • Shane Ferguson has gone on loan to Birmingham city for the season
  • According to Pardew, Cabaye is happy and focused on Newcastle.
  • Shola is looking like he will stay with us following 2 goals in 2 appearances so far.
  • Young LB Paul Dummett apparently has been earning rave reviews so far and might be kept this season as a squad player (rather than loaning him out).

Good news for us (finally this preseason), Cisse has apparently agreed to wear the Wonga branded kit and looks set to stay at the club.

Some betting agencies have installed us as favourites to sign Remy and we are apparently one of three clubs in for Gomis. Bent is still on the radar but Villa want 6m and we only value him at 5m.

Kone (CB from Lyon) is also being offered with Gomis for 10m all up (Not sure we need another CB...)

Fresh bid for Dutch keeper Zoet is being mentioned.

Shola looks set to stay with Adam Campbell going on loan to a championship team.

Brad Inman (young Aussie mid) is reportedly keen to go to Crewe but we are holding out for a transfer fee.
 
Sorry for the late update feel toon brethren - in truth not much to report anyway haha.

Gomis deal is on the rocks, apparently we aren't prepared to match Gomis' 8m price set by Lyon - some reports are that our 7m bid was accepted but Gomis' wages were 3k more than we were prepared to pay. Either way, he seems to be on the radar still.

Remy loan/transfer might be close - Jamie Redknapp (Harry Redknapp - QPR Manager's son) mentioned Remy was a toon player on a tv show apparently. Will wait for official confirmation before making anything of that.

Cisse scored in a 2-0 win over St Mirren last night, his first run out since resolving the Wonga controversy.

Yeah - the case is due to be heard later in the year I believe. He's definitely quality and the talk is we are trying to do a loan move (so if he does get convicted, there's not much risk for us in comparison to a full transfer). Some reports saying QPR are confident they will bounce back at the first attempt and only want to loan him to ease their wage budget (so in that case, they'd take him back if they do come up). Will be interesting to see either way given Mike Ashley normally doesn't approve loan deals as part of our transfer strategy. Will see what happens I guess

I'd imagine Joe Kinnear shouldn't have too much trouble pronouncing his name so no embarrassing press conferences about him if/when he signs :)

Haha - if reports are to be believed overnight, our pursuit of Bent is pretty much done as Bent and his agent 'were far from impressed with their meeting with Joe Kinnear'. Probably called him Kent or something :D:(
 
Not much new last night - apparently interest in Remy has increased as our pursuit of Bent looks done and dusted. No idea what's going on with Gomis.

2 new striker targets we are getting linked with Melvut Erdinc (who we've been linked with in the past as a possible replacement for Carroll) and M'Baye Niang from AC Milan on loan (18 year).

Abeid has gone to Panathaniokos (spelling?) Greece on loan for a season.

Yesterday was the 4 year anniversary of Sir Bobby Robson's passing. If only he were still at the helm today :(

Finally, seems like we have a bit of movement on the transfer front - Gomis deal may be done in the next 24-48 hours after Lyon accepted an 8m fee.

Remy loan deal looking likely for 2m with option to buy after he was left out of the QPR squad for their season opener over night.

Apparently we are keen on Tom Ince from Blackpool for about 8m and also James McCarthy from Wigan for 20m (would be less though as Wigan won't get 20m for him). Wouldn't mind Ince if the price was a bit less but young English players cost a bit. McCarthy is a good young mid but we are already loaded in the CM positions.
 
FINALLY. We have a new striker - Loic Remy has joined on loan for the season.

Scored 6 goals in 14 games for QPR after joining in January (after his 11th hour change of mind to join us). Could be a very good addition given his pace and power. He still has the rape charges to answer (should be known next month if he will be charged or not) but given he wants to play at the WC next year, will be out to impress. With French internationals like Cabaye, Debuchy, Sissoko and Ben Arfa already at the club, he has the perfect chance to impress as no doubt those players will be considered for Brazil 2014.

To be fair, sometimes my fellow toon brothers and sisters pop in from time to time which is always nice!

I'd imagine you'd have a similar set up on the Leicester board haha? ;)

BTW, great job beating the Smogs! Nice start to your promotion campaign mate!

Sadly, I am the Leicester board around here haha. I'm just happy I have some companionship in the Championship thread haha.

Yeah that was a great way to start the season! The most awful first half I remember for a long time but luckily we only conceded once. Came out breathing fire luckily. Still have my fingers crossed, ten years is too long to be out of the top flight :(

I'm hoping you guys come up, probably my favourite team in the championship this year and would be great to see the foxes back in the top tier where they belong.

Did Knockaert play? Or is he still in the bad books for that penalty miss in the playoffs?

Have you guys done much transfer business? I can only recall you guys being linked to Perch from us from memory. Hope you did a nice recruitment drive to secure your promotion :)
 
Had our final pre season friendly over the weekend - a 1-1 draw at home vs Braga in the Sir Bobby Robson tribute match. The plus news is we actually scored from a corner. Feck yeah!

Social media saying we are going to sign 3 players - Ince, Sinclair and a young Belgian I've never heard of (posted the info below).

While Ince and Sinclair have been heavily linked with the Toon by the media over the past week, the supposed Belgian target is new.







Currently, there’s no ’21 year old, 6ft 2′ striker in either of the full or U21 Belgian national sides. But, according to most reporting outlets, the player in question is most likely to be Standard Liege starlet, Michy Batshuayi, who we’ve been linked with in the past.


Also, Gomis did not play for Lyon over the weekend and is reported to have said goodbye to teammates and fans. Their president said he would be a newcastle player in 48 hours...(heard that before...won't hold my breath on that one!)
 
Not much to update - Gomis deal seems to have collapsed (what a surprise). Now getting linked to a few non French strikers - Jelle Vossen from Genk, Rhodes from Blackburn and a young French mid we were linked to last season Florian Thauvin. For some strange reason we are also being linked to Ajax CB Alderweireld - personally don't think we need CBs given we already have 3 solid options fighting for 2 spots with a few backup options in Williamson and young Aussie Curtis Good.
 
Wow - Man C looked good, however we did not.

Arfa and Krul are the only 2 that had any influence on the game at all.....Taylor straight red too.

West Ham at home next week is a massive, massive game for us now.
