Best possible start - shocked when I heard it. Sounds like we were unlucky to not have a penalty as well.

Would be great if Perez could make that spot behind Gayle his. Interesting seeing Yedlin come in for Anita as well. Probably just giving him a rest I presume.

Sounds like Yedlin is playing well also. Anita has been ok at RB in recent times but I'm not a huge fan.
Hope we walk away with a comfortable 2-0 win - we deserve at least that I think

Apparently 45,000 tickets have been sold for our mid week cup clash against Preston! Amazing!

I'm conflicted about what team I want to see as well - on the one hand, I'd love to give players who haven't had much opportunity of late (Mitro, Atsu, Hanley, Lazaar, Yedlin etc) to get run outs but on the other, given we're in the latter stages, I'd like to field a strong side (and making many wholesale changes for players with not much recent game time could be a risk).

Preston are in decent form too - this month alone, they have beaten Villa (who we couldn't), drew away to second place Brighton, beat Huddersfield and then knocked off Norwich away on the weekend. They would back themselves I'm sure.

At home I'd back us in to get there so would still like us to rotate a bit. Need to get games into a few different guys.

2 goals for Diame and Mitro will do wonders for their confidence! Ritchie getting one and Perez continuing his fine form with another goal off the bench!

Man I hope we get a good draw for the next round...who knows how far we can go!

We actually play them again on the weekend too. A bit weird as last round we played Wolves in the league and then in the cup.

A great time to be a Toon fan!

After the last few seasons, I can't remember a time when it was so enjoyable to follow the team. Rafa is really restoring the pride and love back!
