Carver is embarrassing.

As sad as the Jonas situation was, the outcome from beating cancer is the most important thing. On a football front I don't think he had much to offer us, would have been brilliant to give him a sub appearance as a send off though, he deserved that as did the fans.
Yeah, I didn't have high hopes for him coming back into the side and helping us win many points but would have been nice to see him even get a cameo run off the bench to celebrate his victory over cancer and to have that special moment with the fans and for himself to remember. Fair to say we could all use something to put a smile on our faces with the current direction of the club showing no signs of changing.

Can someone tell me WTFFFFFFFFFF Williamson was doing? he is a daft moron, he should never pull the shirt on again. I'm over this, Palace are useless and we look like a complete rabble.

Carver is an idiot, what are these subs? NO FCUKING ambition at all, this is pathetic. Cabella and Cisse off ( our most dangerous attackers) for Dumb$hit and Abeid, I may as well follow Gateshead.

Saw this on my facebook earlier - seems appropriate!

Carver needs to be taken out to pasture, baffling subs yet again. Scores locked at 1-1 so he subs off our goalscorer for a DM. Then he takes off probably our most inform player for a fullback.

Would rather have taken a chance and gone for the win then seemingly set up shop and be content to take a point away from home at Palace. Can you imagine Keegan or Robson being 'happy' with a result like that?

It's VERY disheartening.

The commentators said something before the game like "to the outside world, it seemed as though Pardew did a very good job at Newcastle... but Newcastle is very different to the outside world" - he has a lot of people baffled.
In his defence, with our stature we should be spending no less than the like of Tottenham (Bale cash aside), but whoever is in the hot seat is going to be limited in what he can achieve. I don't like Pardew, but I doubt anybody else will do any better than him while MA is there. Any manager more talented than a yes man won't get the job (or want it) anyway.

I can't agree with that. I know it's a shocking scenario where the manager has no say over who comes in and out, but there's plenty out there that would do better than Pards. Look at our record in cups, record against the Mackems, his handling of talented players and either continually playing them out of position or just destroying their confidence. The problem is I don't know why any decent manager in his right mind would want to come and manage us.

I have this sickening, disgusting feeling that Carver will be given the job on a full time basis. We are literally the ONLY club in England to call this position a head coaches role, who in their right mind with any ambition would come and 'coach' us? Shocking scenario for us supporters.

Pardew was god damn, utterly useless. I could name a dozen lower league managers who would have done better, Lee Clarke to start with.

I agree on the bit about our stature and where we should be - I think Spurs, Everton (maybe not this current season) and perhaps Southampton if they drop off a bit before the end of the season. Those are the teams we really should be on par with IMO.

On that point, reminded me of this interesting piece in the Mag I read earlier in the week.

"Alan Pardew clearly seems to be outside his comfort zone when not having wide men who are basically there to protect the full-backs.

He obviously loved playing Yoan Gouffran and similarly Gabriel Obertan was always a player he was itching to get back into the team, only prevented by the sheer weight of public opinion."

John Carver talking to the press today, once again writing his own headlines and pumping his own tyres.

“I stuck Papiss Cisse in – I was brave to play two strikers away from home, but he’s a fox in the box.”

Geez - didn't we only have 1 chance on goal (which ended up being our goal)? If he's taking pride in that, then clearly he is showing he's incapable of creating more chances with more attackers in the side.

Not only that but a lot of fans reckon he was scared to lose hence his 'negative' substitutions. Personally, would rather have seen we take the game on and go for the win than settle for a point. Can you imagine Keegan or Robson being content with a draw at Palace?

If nothing else, was nice to see Bradford topple the mackems overnight 2-0 in the FA Cup.

Apparently Sammy is in talks of being offered a new deal (his current one is up in a few months). Not too fussed about that. Can occasionally be decent but handy to have as a squad player for depth. Would also help us with both the 'club trained' and 'home grown' (English) player squad registration requirements and would surely be on a pretty low wage.

Also trying to get Aarons to sign a new contract (just over a year to run) - he's the one we need to secure. Got a bad feeling he might want to jump to a more ambitious team though if any interest comes up.

We've also apparently offered Andre Ayew a pre contract (with Marseille seemingly happy for him to walk) but with Dortmund and Liverpool (among others) reportedly interested, I can't see why he'd come to us.
