Demba Ba was a good signing
We need at least 2 or 3 more "good" signings.

I still find it remarkable how he's still in charge. Keeps finding ways to **** everything up for your lot.
(and thus possibly sneak a Europa League spot because of a Chelsea/Man City rules breach with UEFA).
Well Birmingham are, aren't they? Are you allowed to play Europa league if you're in the Championship?
Hope the French foreign legion gels quickly, otherwise we are in strife.
I'm thinking Pardew's going to have to go for a 4-5-1 - who the hell else could you seriously pair with Ba?
Surely we can take 5under1and?I actually like the thoughts of a 4-4-1-1 type formation, with Ba up front and Lovenkrands as the 2nd striker/mid sitting just behind Ba.
The question has to be asked though, what happens if Ba gets injured, or if he gets suspended, who is his backup then?
It's the thinnest I've seen us in the forward position in my time following the team, even when we have been in the championship/lower leagues.
And with Fat arse still not willing to spend too much, I can't see us even fixing the problem in the January TW, which means we will have to rely on draws against the better sides, and wins at home against the lesser teams just to survive.
I thought the intensity last night was great though, I hope Barton doesn't leave, he sets a bloody good example, at least in his attack on the ball (and the opposition sometimes).
Sunderland away next week, they looked terrible for a half, and pretty good for the second half, so I'd almost be happy with a draw again.
We might not be contenders but I can't see us going down with this squad and the future is bright because we're stacking up on young talent.
And they're still consistently finishing in the top 4.stacking up on young talent in the EPL is not what it is in the AFL.
look at arsenal.. they stack up on young talent.. that young talent ends up leaving..
And they're still consistently finishing in the top 4.
On a different note, how impressive was Obertan when he came on.
Hopefully he'll start against the scum.
Newcastle United have agreed a £5million deal for Inter Milan full-back Davide Santon.
Manager Alan Pardew has turned to the 20-year-old Italy international after hitting a snag in negotiations over PSV Eindhoven defender Erik Pieters.
Santon can play either side and has progressed through the ranks at Inter.
