Yeah I don't get it either NUFC Tiger, how an away strip somehow ends up looking like another bloody team! What is that about exactly??
Probably not a bad look but hard to tell if it's Sweden or Arsenal?:thumbsu::thumbsu:

No idea Scon - I'm guessing it's using the Puma 'template' where they just change the colours, badges etc. I personally like it when away kits are unique. :D

Part of Joe Kinnear's master plan to have them playing like Brazil without having to sign any players perhaps??

Wouldn't surprise me at all mate - would save some money on transfers too! ;)

Be more fitting if it ended up looking like France.

Viva le toon and all that jazz.

Well France thumped us 6-0(what a surprise).

In good news though, Cabaye and Debuchy both scored - and Remy really should have too.

Was nice to hear the French commentator in the coverage (forgot his name) say when discussing Cabaye's failed transfer move that 'he shouldn't be looking to leave Newcastle. Newcastle are a fantastic club with great supporters, some of the very best in the world' (or something along those lines). :thumbsu:

A couple of cracking goals they were too NUFC Tiger, and Sissoko should've slotted one as well.I couldn't actually bring myself to watch the whole thing as it was a very dispirited and embarrassing display which does nothing at all in taking the game forward;cringeworthy really and no choice but to give Holger the boot.I think the commentator may have been Robert Pires;high praise indeed!I'll have a look at the replay later on this evening.

Yep they certainly were! Cabaye's was nice but he really didn't have much pressure from the midfield (looked like Bresciano was tracking back some distance away though). Debuchy's volley was very nice on the eye too. Have to feel sorry for Langerak, did a decent job on debut but still leaked in 6 goals - none of which were really his fault.

Watched the post game comments with Slater, Bosnich, Kosmina and Adam Peacock (Peacock is actually a toon fan in real life too so get around him!) and I think they mentioned it was Frank Lebeouf on the commentary.

A few interesting rumours from the weekend - apparently we do in fact have a option to buy Remy included in the loan deal (who would have thought Kinnear would have the competence to do that!?).

Also reported we are likely to bid for Micah Richards from City and both Young and Zaha from Man Utd.

The best bit of news from the weekend though for mine was hearing that Ryan Taylor is still involved around the club despite his lengthy lay off with injury. Apparently the coaching staff have asked him to scout opposition teams and present to the rest of the squad on his thoughts. Nice to keep him involved and feeling like part of the squad :thumbsu:

scon - Don't know if the below story has got any press coverage out in WA these past few days but its a good story nonetheless! A toon fan, Mark Allison is doing a run for charity across Australia - he started in Perth yesterday I believe. He's trying to raise funds for the Sir Bobby Robson foundation and the Children's foundation. His campaign is called Run Geordie Run Down Under (great name!).

Nope nothing at all in the press over here that I have noticed(although I'm well out of Perth) but cheers for the heads up.I'll keep an eye on his progress via his website and I'll see what the local club thinks about making a donation.I'm well connected there, they're a pretty generous mob with social causes and Sir Bob is a personal favourite of several of us down here.
I've driven across the country a few times and that has seemed like a bloody marathon to me so I'll be sure to make a donation myself and wish the fella well on his website;bloody huge effort.
I'll be missing the game against the scousers because of a double family birthday do which involves staying out the back of bum-f-ck-Egypt with no TV and quite likely no radio either.Gerard looks like he's back to his best from the weekend's international, the little biter's back,Sturridge is firing...might be easier jogging across Oz!:):thumbsu:Howay the Lads..gonna have to be a steely performance.
Also thanks for all the news titbits I don't always reply but I always appreciate.Agreed on Ryan Taylor, love his approach.Cheers

All good mate - I always like talking about the toon!

Agreed, a fantastic and massive effort - not to mention the heat he will probably have to deal with. I'm going to try and keep track of his progress as well and think I'll make him a donation too.

Liverpool will be a tough game, always a lot of goals (second highest goal scoring fixture in the EPL I believe). Some concerns that Colo might not be fit and that Remy was involved in a car accident recently and was possibly injured. Losing both our best striker at the moment and best defender wouldn't be ideal given the form the scousers are in - particularly Sturridge and Suarez.

Hope we can bounce back and redeem ourselves after the horrible 6-0 game last season - hopefully the boys will be focused on this game and not the upcoming derby next weekend ;)

Hey fellow toon fans - hope you don't mind me tagging you all! Just tagging the other NUFC supporters I've seen on here to bring this thread to your attention - feel free to tag any other posters of the geordie persuasion you might come across in your BF travels :D:thumbsu:

Howay the lads!

Big blow today with news that Colo will miss the Liverpool game - bad enough that Sturridge and Suarez are in good form and our defence has been a bit shakey to date...

I'd probably opt for Williamson and Yanga Mbiwa to play in defence with each other. Williamson's no nonsense style physicality may help while Yanga's pace may make him more suited to dealing with the speed of the 2 Liverpool strikers...

Make the ultimate sacrifice for the team NUFC Tiger fly over and shoot Suarez.Even things up for the game and the world would have one less git.

Hahaha! Well thankfully Krul pulled off a nice save last night to deny the biter the winning goal and save us a point!

Great effort from the team to play for over 60 mins with 10 men. We could have won it too but to battle hard like the boys did, a point is a very welcome result (capped off with Scumberland losing 4-0 in Poyet's first game in charge!)

Dummett did a fantastic job, a LB by trade - came on and played CB next to Williamson and scored our second goal (the first by a non French player this season lol). Tiote was immense and Debuchy was in great form as well.

I'll say it now but IMO, no other team can create the same atmosphere that the Toon army make at home with the stadium buzzing.

Bring on Scumberland next week!

First goal for Dummett - scoring at the Gallowgate end and realising a boyhood dream! Great for our younger players coming through.

Nice excerpt from Sir Alex Ferguson's recently released book (talking about our dear friends Scumberland):
‘I had good relationships with most other clubs but none more so than with Sunderland. At least until the last five years of my career.
We’d give them good deals on our fringe players or ageing players, and in return they’d take some of our youngsters on loan give them Premier League experience.
Unfortunately they got greedy in asking for Scholesy when he still had a couple of years left in him. I was never going to agree to that, but they didn’t take the hint and came back in every transfer window, mainly because their fans “wanted” him.
They’re an odd lot let me tell you; ideas above their station yet supporting a team who are nothing more than a hindrance even when at their best under Peter Reid.
In the end I pacified them by offloading Brown and O’Shea – both good servants but past their sell by date in my mind. Both injury prone and liable to make mistakes. Still, they were good enough to do a job in a poor team.’

Here's what SAF said about us in his autobiography:

"'Newcastle is the one job that should excite every manager that thinks seriously about the game, the history and the fabric of football. If you bring success to those fans you will have achieved something that will write you into the folklore of a special city. To go so long without a whiff of success yet still retain that amount of passion from their fans is unique. It's the one job that I feel is an opportunity missed, if not regretted."

Mourinho, Hiddink, Guardiola, etc - watch the world class managers come knocking :D
