Proximity! Perth is the most isolated capital in the world - everything (other than Bali!) is so far away that we live in a bubble.
nitpicking here, but this is actually a myth.
if you're talking about proximity to the nearest major city (500,000+) Honolulu (population 950,000) is easily more remote.
then next in line is Auckland (2155km from Sydney) narrowly pipping Perth (2131 km to Adelaide)

she has a point. the shopping here is balls.
Depends whats shes looking for?

Tried King St for high end shit...Gucci, Prada, Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Tiffany,Burberry, Armani, Apple plus some fashion names. Admittedly never been in there so don't know what they have inside.

So she must be fussy. Alota money in Perth, just try walking up the some streets of Perth theres guys on Ferrari's, Astons, Maserati's plus common Mercs:D

Yeah, I just think some people need to live in places with heaps of people and endless stimulation. i guess sailing on the estuary in a surfcat, like I used to do, wouldn't do it for some people:)

purely speculating as I don't know the girl, but yeah, there are some high end stores on a very short street, but it's hardly a bustling hub of activity.

the complaint I hear most, and the one I agree with, is Perth really lacks in that middle-shelf of affordable but still decent chain stores (H&M, Zara, Uniqlo, American Apparel etc). the closest thing we have is General Pants, which while not entirely bad mostly caters to teenagers.

Myer & David Jones may as well merge as they sell exactly the same stuff.
good luck trying to buy a decent men's shirt in Perth and not spot 10 other guys wearing it within a month.

Bang on. However we are about to have two Zara's in Perth now so that's exciting as well as Topshop/Topman.

I also think the shopping kinda sucks in Perth. If I want something unique though I'll head to Mount Lawley, Leederville, Claremont for boutique stuff (which costs a fortune).

Surely all footy guys just wear clothes from Transit/General Pants though. They all wear the same shit. Or they go on a shopping spree at Buddy Franklin's store in Melbourne when they visit...

As usual everyone has gone off topic. if you really liked Perth would you move somewhere else for better shopping. Seriously.

That is just taking one stat and using it as a deciding point. Auckland has the major NZ cities and Melbourne a similar distance to Sydney away. Honolulu has the 2 other main islands (pop 100K + cities) and then its Southern California as far away as Adelaide is from here.

There are no other cities at all close to Perth. Nothing. Bunbury at 70K is the only population centre of note. Then its is Adelaide. And nothing.

There would be less population within 3 hrs flying time from Perth than any other city in the world. (Probably except Hawaii but that really doesnt count, ita a holiday island)

Honolulu to LA is nearly double the distance perth to Adelaide.
