I didn't realize that Lucas is 188cm (taller than I thought). Hard to measure players at Carlton however the fact he didn't get much of a run under Mick tells you his defensive capabilities are not up to scratch. Has speed and can get the ball though something Suban could learn to do.

So west coast may get Varcoe as well. I'm feeling a bit bummed you know. I feel like every team that will be challenging in the 8 next year seem to be strengthening their lists and filling holes that they have. Hawks, Geelong, port, north, essendon, collingwood, WC, Gold Coast. They are all just improving their teams in ways that have been lacking .

I'm seeing people on here saying our team is fine, injuries hurt us etc but we have some serious holes in KPP and I feel we are going to get nothing of value this trade period and it is going to hurt

Don't stress mate.
We have a LOT of improvement that can come from within our own list.
Apeness and Taberner - our key forward posts for the next 10 years are 19 and 21 respectively.
Zac Clarke - is a very good ruckman, just hasn't had the chances with Sandi. He will get them this year.
Crozier - is not quite 21, finally growing into a mans body. Developing nicely and could be a terrific mid that goes forward.
Duffy - looks like our small forward in waiting, ready made replacement for Sonny if he goes into the mid or if either of our boys get hurt.
Morabito - played a solid 12 months of footy now, time to build that tank and show his potential.
Neale - coming along very nicely, will only get better.
Sheridan - really in a similar spot as Croz, ready to go this year.
Sutcliffe - played a lot down back but looks like he mid develop into a real power runner for us.

Theres a lot of internal improvement mate.
I haven't even mentioned the likes of Smith, Grey, Pearce and the improvement left in Fyfe.

No point getting B grade players, we need some A graders but we have enough depth is all areas except KPP players.

Lucas, Varcoe would not help us a lot, really we need one A grade KPF and we would be set. As their are none available, I think we will chase a few players like Kersten or Black, but in reality they will be hard to get and we will got to the draft and get a player like H Goddard.

When we are struggling to find 3 players we'd all/most be happy to delist, then I think the list must be in pretty good shape.

Of course the jury is still out on a number of our young talls, but they have all impressed some us in some capacity, and give us enough to believe they have something to offer in the next year or two.

Would you really want us to pick up 30 yr old Malceski for 3 years with a couple of re-co's behind him??

Over the last few years how many Vics have we lost back to Melbourne, once they are here they love the place. ( and yes I have been all over Oz and many other places ). Perth has many great things going for it, but if your friends and relations are not here why would you leave Melbourne
Croad, Tarrant, McPhee...

Heard bond on 6pr....yes I listen every now and then. He gave little away as you would expect but did mention pick upgrades - definitely sounds like they have their eye on someone if trades don't come to fruition.
It seems FA is over for us this year with no major players left to get to their new Club of choice. Trades seem very quite for Freo too.

Just how can we engineer a "pick upgrade" that will work for both clubs involved? The only picks that would be worth Freo having are ones higher than our existing first round pick you would imagine. If we are after a specific player it's too much of a lucky dip to leave it for the second round as another club will grab him or he is nothing special as a player so why trade for an upgrade in the first place?

It will be interesting to see how this unfolds (or even if it does unfold at all)

On another note....Varcoe's talking to the Eagles. Could he do a job for us with that pace or is he too much of a downhill skier?

I personally don't think he'd get a gig..but interested to get opinion.
A Geelong fan who I was talking to over the weekend said he is way overrated and a "pea heart" to boot. TBH I have never taken a lot of notice of him but when fans of a club call one of their own players weak you prick your ears up. We tend to criticise about the ability to play to a certain level more than their ticker.

Perfect fit for the Egos if that info is right.

Don't forget Simpson:

Josh's manager was interviewed on trade radio a couple of minutes ago and said Josh cant wait to get back into training and wants to continue an AFL career with Freo
He said that Freo taking the game away from him has shown him how much he has missed .
Said it was up to Freo if he stays on the list and as Freo still need to free up another spot he wasnt sure which way it would go
He was asked if there was a problem between Ross and Josh and said no that Ross was supportive to Josh and his personal problems

Ha North have just long greenwood. Bring in two FA's who demand $$ and couldn't look after their own who finished 2nd in the B&F
They have really screwed the pooch haven't they.

12 months time I guarantee either Hansen, Tarrant, Brown or Black demand a trade due to them getting Waite.

Aaron Black is not going anywhere.

Josh Simpson future is in the hands of the club. He is going through a personal development program, and has gone quiet well. Manager says he is super hungry to play AFL football.

Freo - need to create a space on our list, manager will sit down with Lloyd and Bond at end of trade period. (May get moved to the rookie list by the sound of it so that we have 3 picks in the main draft. )

They look like losing one of their best players, not exactly improving

Today he isn't, doesn't mean he isn't in 12 months.
