Thanks for that, that changes everything.
One we might look at next year is Jack Steven from the Saints, I believe he's out of contract next year. Reckon he would fit in well with his pace. He'd be restricted, so it might be a difficult to get the Saints not to match his contract unless they get band 1.

Thats interesting, wonder what his relationship with Ross is like?

I think that might be the outcome but gees, is he going to be ok with that and hang around?
Who knows if Josh would be ok with going to rookie list but if he stays on the main list, things are not looking good for Duffy (never really proven to have signed a new contract) Griff or a C Pearce type. We are obviously looking to trade, I think the most obvious of our players who may have requested a trade is Griff.

2>1 Neale looks like being a 200-250 game player for us and also could be a future captain. McCartin isn't a proven player at the moment and I'm confident of getting a good player at 13, Weller, De Goey etc.
A top line young key forward would be handy though, wouldn't he? Guys like that aren't available at 13.

Neale is a (injuries permitting) a 200 game player and a fantastic, proven centreman. We'd be odds on to snare a gun with pick 3, but I reckon we'd still get a decent player at 13. At the end of the day, Neale is a proven player whilst, the draft is a risk. Different people will have different views, but I personally while not totally ruling it out, wouldn't be jumping to do that exchange.
Fair enough. We'll have a chance of drafting someone like Neale every single year though. We lose a fella like him this year, we get another couple of shots in the second, third and fourth rounds each year after that.

Won't be getting pick 3 for a long time, unless we start trading decent players, or the list completely falls over.

Yeah and what happens if we get McCartin and then he wants to leave after 2 years? Neale wants to play for us, has improved every year and is now a lock in the best 22. Why would we want to trade someone like that?

Mccartin shares very little footy dna with watts. Pick someone that was promising but has been crocked through no fault of his own. Mora for example. Then it's a valid argument.
There is no argument, I would rather take our chances with what we've got (Taberner and Apeness) and keep both Neale and pick 13.

Or someone like Jack Watts.
Not even, could have all the potential in the world and then turn out to be a Jon Patton. The point is, clubs just don't jeopardise the quality the ilk of Neale for an untried quantity, even one of high pick credential. Unless your recruiters are complete and utter dingbats, that is.

I don't understand you guys... Neale is an outstanding young mid and you want to trade him to get 10 places higher in the draft. Neale has the most potential of any of our young guys.

Trade Clarke or Suban and Deboar before Neale. Doesn't necessarily have to be a trade with Melbourne either, could just as easily do a trade with the Bulldogs for their first pick.

Even just pick 3 for Neale I'd squirm over, but would do it.

For a 10 pick upgrade? Have you all lost your marbles??

Neale may have been pick 56 or whatever, but without looking at his draft year he is playing way above that selection. Plus he is playing now and playing well, not just getting games here and there. Allows Fyfe to push forward and gives our midfield a different look and some flexibility.

Yowsers you guys are tough.
