The Trade (TM)

Wouldn't mind Toy to be honest. Might be a sneaky one for a trade...

you wont get tier 1 compensation, definitely a no for scully

if you think that a 30 game player is valued the same as a once in a generation player and the standout AFL's standout best midfielder, then your deluding yourself, its already been pointed out by mike sheehan that melbourne wont be getting it and fairly so

most likely a mid first round pick and a second rounder

i think you guys and the western bulldogs are severely underating the compensation system, tier 1 is for "elite", franklin ablett ect, not tom scullys

Lol Mike Sheehan he's a journalist, Adrian Anderson has said we will definately get Tier 1. Now piss off please.

Jack Gunston, surely it would be logical to throw everything at this kid
nar, Hawks, Essendon and possibly Carlton looking at having a go. All three have more value in players, which is what the Crows really need.
Besides, he's way too similar to a lot of other players on our list.

I say we front load all our new contracts over the next couple of years, then offer Dylan Shiel or Adam Treloar an offer they can't refuse.

We virtually already are - Cam Schwab said earlier in the year that we're going to have to bring forward contract payments in order to make the 92%

Getting a little sick of people shooting off about the compo system when they obviously haven't read the rules.

And even if we land the best-case compo (what would that be, mid and late first), why are some people saying that's an objectively great deal? I can't think of a sport in the world where a team would trade the #1 overall pick for say, pick #15 and #20. What am I missing here?

Tier one is a middle of the 1st round pick and then one directly after our first.

So based on finishing 13th (in a normal draft year) we would get picks 6,7 and 9

Finish 8 and we'd get picks 9, 11 and 12 (obviously one from each senario being our 'earnt' pick)

Could be much worse.

Either way, it's not bad compensation.

And how would the middle of the first round pick work? Does it turn the 1st round into 19 picks?

I think we might go for a Vic kid.

This is one of the biggest misconceptions ever. Drafting a kid from your home state to avoid them going back home.

Well a fella from Berwick just decided to leave his home state for the @$$hole of Sydney, and possibly Australia.

We'll go after best available thanks. Plus with a name like O'Meara, there surely must be some Irish blood in him somewhere! He and Jim could talk about the good ol days back in the green county, lol.

what you are missing is that its not 15-20, what you are also missing out on is that this wasn't a simple trade, AFL didn't have to give us anything but have.

Geelongs picks were higher, we will be getting geelongs compensation

Good to see you back Deefolt!

Sorry about our little tussles in the past, i'm a changed man!

Look forward to hearing your insightful opinions around here again, it hasnt been the same without you.

You been on holiday or something?

Scully was in a unique situation, I wouldn't be comfortable drafting O'Meara when he has clearly stated he would like to stay in W.A.

Crouch or Haynes are two greatly talented Vic boys who played good underage roles at the Carnival this year.

Crouch was named AA iirc, he also was 2nd or 3rd in the TAC Cup for effective kicks.

Haynes is very quick, probably faster than Blease.

nah mate, simply found big footy bit boring for a bit tbh, on twitter full on, off season is where big footy kicks arse until draft period

I'm thinking we draft O'Meara, then when he wants to go back to WA, we trade him to WC for Andrew Gaff. Bam!

I dunno about that, would you trade the No1 Selection in a draft for picks 10-11, I dont think so, its enough to keep us quiet though

We did turn down Ports offer of their picks 8 and 9 for our pick 2 a couple of years ago.
