How much has anyone seen?

Right so, basically you've seen little to none of him but are prepared to right him off as a flop.

There is a reason Inter who is cash strapped will sell him for under 10million.

As for this. Are you a moron?

The reason is they are cash strapped. I seem to recall another former Inter prodigy being sold at a cut price and performing well in the Premier League. Davide Santon? Heard of him?

The same Inter who's even paid Milan money in the past to let them have Pirlo and Seedorf, this is Inter we're talking about

Inter fans being livid that he got sold shows that he isn't an average player in their eyes and I bet he's seen more of him than us. He could be anything, but to call him an average player is a bit early

because no one offered for alvarez?

you said it yourself, they're cash strapped. it was him or alvarez, no one touched alvarez.

Perfect price. He isn't worth anymore than was Liverpool paid.

Santon is a defender. They always go cheaper then midfielder/strikers. He is hardly a star though.

If you are cash strapped then you don't sell a young gun for cheap. You try and get as much as possible, The kids a dud, Well done Liverpool you outbid Southampton.

You call me a moron but obviously you are deluded.

How much have you seen of him? I've actually followed him close enough to make an assessment.

Early would be the perfect time to call him average. That's what he is. Maybe Liverpool will turn him into a good player. I just don't rate him at all.

If he was 25+ I would be calling him shit.

Inter seem to have a few of these younger players that for whatever reason can't break into their first team.

Remember when Santon broke through thinking he's going to play for them for 15 years.

When you're strapped for cash they're the sorts you look to cash in on. £8-9m a lot of money for a player not really getting a look in at the moment.

So you haven't seen much of him, and he hasn't even played for us yet, and it's the perfect time to call him average? That's silly

I don't understand what you don't get with what I'm saying.

Liverpool have bought an average player. Who is still young enough to become good. For that price Inter didn't need to sell. They obviously feel they can't do any more with him.

Again I have followed the kids career because at one point he looked as if he was going to be something special.

I hope Rodgers can rid him of his lazy attitude.

Yeah, not many 20 year olds who have played **** all games are worth 8.5m.

1. Do you not think Inter tried to get as much as possible? Are they morons too? "Oh hey Liverpool, this player isn't really that good so we'll let you have him for 8.5m."

2. They are cash strapped, and they get an offer for a player that will help elevate some of those cash issues. The only reason Coutinho was being discussed as a target was because Inter need the money.

How much have you seen of him? I've actually followed him close enough to make an assessment.

Followed him closely? How often do Inter Milan and Espanyol get on TV these days?

From the sounds of things Inter need the money from the Coutinho sale to fund the purchase of Paulinho (as they need to make sure their books are balanced come seasons end), and our offer to pay more of the fee up front will allow them to do that. From what I can see he's a very talented 20 year old who had huge wraps on him when he was younger, has played for his country at senior level, but for some reason has stalled in his development. With his ability he could turn into a brilliant player, or he could fail to reach his potential, but for just over £8m I don't think it's too much of a risk. Very happy with the buy, I'm interested to see how he turns out.

Santon had a decent run in his debut season but then never managed to become a regular. He was even loaned out for half of the season in his last year there.

Couldve got Ince for that money.
Will be interesting to see if it was either ince or coutinho.

There is this amazing new invention called the internet.:thumbsu:

Yeah, pretty much the same story as Coutinho and now he's playing very well for Newcastle. I'm sure Coutinho is perfectly capable of the same.

But that's not what you said, in response to "he could become something special with good coaching", you said:

I don't think he will. Just an average player.
And we're here to tell you, he hasn't even played a game for us, he's still young, by all accounts none of you have really seen much of him, yet you're prepared to say it's the "perfect time" to call him average, while it's early
And btw, now that you're saying you've been following him closely, it's kinda strange that you said this when asked how much you've seen of him:

How much has anyone seen?
Doesn't sound like you're an expert on the field either
I completely get what you're saying, which is why I'm saying what you said was silly to the extreme

I would take someone from Inter over someone in the Championship tbh. Haven't seen either player though

Ince is better.

Low risk purchase for sure.

Seems like a fair deal. Hope rodgers can develop him.

Be interesting to see if he can adapt to the English game.

Although I know this Coutinho was a wonderkid (according to Fifa 09 anyway ;) ) and plays for Inter, if he was really that good surely you'd have more competition than Southampton for his sig

He could become something. I don't think he will. That's not the same thing. One is personal opinion the other is a possibility.

Visually I haven't seen a lot. But I have seen some and followed mainly via the internet.

You're entitled to your opinion but still think it's jumping the gun, particularly with none of us actually watched him play that much and that he hasn't even played for us yet

I don't care even if he's shit though, a Brazilian with inho in his name, that's good enough of a cult figure for me
