Liverpool should keep Carroll and give him a go. It would look bad to sell a player that young for <10mil when just 2 years ago you paid 35mil
His value isnt going to improve if he stays with us because his attributes just don't fit the style we want to play. Extreme example but it would be like bringing Messi in and then continually bombing the ball in on his head and wondering why he isn't scoring. We're never going to see the best of Carroll in a Liverpool shirt so it's best for all parties that he moves on as soon as possible.
There'll be a lot of posturing from both sides regarding his valuation over the next few months and I'm sure Allardyce's most recent comments will just be the first of many negotiation tactics to force Liverpool to drop their asking price. He's scored 5 goals in his last 7 games since returning from injury, and if he keeps that form up until the end of the season I'm sure Big Sam will find a way to make the move happen because Carroll's the perfect striker for his system. Whether that move is at or below our asking price will largely depend on whether other clubs are seriously interested in him or if West Ham are the only club in negotiations. Allardyce and Sullivan for West Ham and Pardew for Newcastle have made their desire to sign Carroll quite clear so I'll be surprised if he's still in Liverpool colours next season, regardless of whether that's for £12m or £17m.
Allardyce is suggesting that West Ham won't be buying Carroll. Blamed the new premier league FFP rules.
I'll be interested to see the impact the additional revenue from the new TV deal will have on the transfer budgets of clubs like West Ham this summer. Remember that they're also getting a brand new £600m stadium with an extra 20,000 seats for just £15m in the next few years, so regardless of what Allardyce says I can't see West Ham being too concerned about FFP. If anything, they're going to benefit immensely from the new arrangements compared to other clubs around them.
