Firstly I'm not a mod on this board. I don't have that right.

Secondly I like moomba. I don't always agree with him but I have no issue with him at all.

Thirdly if you have an issue with a poster take it to pm. Publicly posting what you have is not the way to go about things.

In other news the Daily Mail says any club wanting to sign Falcao will have to resolve an issue of third-party ownership due to the fact that a company run by former United and Chelsea chief executive Peter Kenyon and agent Jorge Mendes has owned a stake in the player since helping to finance his £34m move from Porto.

The first being we will start bidding 7m for Carroll (with maybe a ceiling of 10m at max for haggling) - not sure if Liverpool would accept that? Some of the comments I've read on social media and in other articles are that some liverpool fans would rather sell Carroll to anyone except us. There was one comment where someone said he would rather give Carroll to Everton for free than sell back to us. Wouldn't have thought there'd be any animosity between the 2 clubs?

The second one was that PSG will look at bringing French stars back to France and look at guys like Ribery, Nasri and Cabaye (which is why I read the article) and the possibility of bringing them back to Ligue 1.

The first being we will start bidding 7m for Carroll (with maybe a ceiling of 10m at max for haggling) - not sure if Liverpool would accept that? Some of the comments I've read on social media and in other articles are that some liverpool fans would rather sell Carroll to anyone except us. There was one comment where someone said he would rather give Carroll to Everton for free than sell back to us. Wouldn't have thought there'd be any animosity between the 2 clubs?

If it's in response to the £7m bid then I'd imagine it's probably a bit of bitterness seeing as 2 years ago Newcastle believed his market value was over 4 times that amount!

Personally I don't really care where he goes so long as we get as much money out of the deal as we can. I can't see Liverpool accepting less than £10m for him, I'd imagine somewhere in the range of £12-15m would be the lowest we'd be willing to go and seeing as he's still contracted for another 3 years there's really no rush for us to sell. If there's no satisfactory bid this summer then I'm sure we'll just loan him out again and put him up for sale in January, with any luck if he continues his current run of form we'll have a few buyers who are willing to come a bit closer to our asking price. It'll be interesting to see how the summer unfolds, I have a feeling someone will come up with a satisfactory bid for him.

Bought for £25m and I think Arsenal would have wanted more if he wasn't in the last year of his contract.

But I wouldn't have thought his value would have increased the past few years.

Think his wages will be the big sticking point for many - though in the article I read (from the Guardian), they mentioned the 70m TV rights each club will get as part of the broadcast rights for next season which may give some clubs the means to afford him.

If the fee was reasonable (our owner is known for being very business focused and tight with his money) then I think we could afford his wages - but in saying that, I believe the club would still push for him to accept lower wages (as we have a wages cap in the same mould as Arsenal).

At the start of this season when we were getting linked to him, I thought 12m would be the most we'd fork out but not sure the club would value him much more than 10m now - Carroll's form in the last few games might determine his value. He's been in good form of late and if he keeps it up until the end of the season, it may attract other clubs.

With the new FFP rules salary rises are limited to £4m per club a season (around £50k a week for one player). I reckon Newcastle's increase will be pretty much accounted for with the January signings.

So the bulk of the £70m will go into the pockets of club owners instead of building the squad. I think it's going to be a big influence on the summer window to be honest. What we might see a lot of is bigger fees, but the selling club paying a big portion of wages.

There are some exemptions to the £4m rule. Commercial money and Europe TV money doesn't count so if you have increase in either of those you can put that toward an increased wage bill.

I think there is probably a bit of sour taste/bad blood between both club's hierarchies. I think at the start of the season we put a loan bid in for Carroll which was reportedly flat out rejected. I think there was even some reports of the club preparing to table a 10-15m transfer bid which could maybe be seen as a bit of a taunt/gloat from our hierarchy given we held out for 35m only a few seasons back.

I guess in the club's defence, they put a price on Carroll that they thought would be acceptable and Liverpool matched it. Though as you say, you're not under any pressure to sell him - the new broadcast deal is supposed to be worth 70m a season so that may increase the clubs that can afford him and if he continues his good form, more clubs may become interested.

Personally I'd love to have him back but it would be up to the clubs to nut out an agreeable deal. Liverpool aren't under any financial pressure to sell and our transfer policy in recent years has been notoriously stubborn (the club refuses to pay overs on what they value a player at). A loan with option to buy would be good but again, I don't think Liverpool would be too keen to loan him back to us!

Carroll is a full England international, is 24 years old and is on less then 80k a week. With the form that he is in, his age plus his contract length there's no chance he will sell for less then 15 million. In any case if he keeps up his current form I personally wouldn't want to sell him, he is a 20 goal a season striker in the right system.
