We could never afford Ozil's wages or transfer fee. Same problem everytime we're linked with a big name. Yes we will likely "spend" in January, the word "spend" being very subjective. We'll likely buy either a) another 17 year old or b) someone from the French league

I don't think it's that Arsenal can't pay Ozil's wages it's that they just decide against it, apparently you could've kept Nasri and Clichy (at least) if Wenger had accepted their pay raises. I left out Fabregas because he wanted to go to back to his boyhood team and RVP wanted titles.

The period between June-August is a long time without football. We have to keep ourselves entertained somehow.

which would mean we could get away with playing on one CM and two wingers. we do need another Cm badly but if we got lewondowski, it could still work out

I don't think you'd see the 3 of them all playing at once. Ferguson is fond of his wingers and I think RVP and Lewandowski are probably too similar to be on the field together. In any case I can't see the point in picking up another striker. United's problems aren't in attack, it's in midfield and defence and if you dropped a midfielder to put another striker on those problems would only be further exacerbated.

United need a guy to be a physical presence in the middle of the park, to break up attacks, to shield the central defensive duo and to be a threat when pushing forward. Don't know of too many others who have proven that they can play that role at that level.
