he made some exceptional appearances this season when he was really needed, and stepped up big time. i'd have been much more confident with him at cb than micah or lescott.

Toure on a free would be a good signing so long as he took a wage cut and was being brought in with a view to using him as a backup with a top quality younger option also signed to partner Agger. To be honest I can't see Skrtel wanting to stick around and warm the pine if that's the case and it looks like Coates will be moved on too. In light of that, if we started next season with Agger, Papadopoulos, Toure, Kelly/Wisdom as our 4 centre backs with one of the developing options we've been linked with like Tiago Ilori or Kurt Zouma brought in to the U21's, I have to say I'd be very happy with that. Toure's a proven performer but more importantly he's a leader and he's very experienced, and that's something we're going to need in that defence considering Carragher's retirement and the significant changes that look like being made.

I cant see him getting much of a look in at LFC though either. If Skrtel doesnt leave, he would still need to break through the Skrtel/Agger partnership. Toure would obviously not be the Carragher replacement either, so if it's someone like Papadopoulos, then he will struggle to find matches.
