He was until he lost his marbles over the Ferguson facts rant.

You mean the rant where he brought up points that we are still discussing and that are still relevant 4 years later? You yourself are not averse to going on a fortnightly mini Fergie facts rant Moomba!

To be fair I don't think it was the speech itself, I think it was the pressure of being at the top and being the hunted that got to the team.

I don't know about Villa. A cracking player, one of the most clinical forwards I've ever seen. But he must be in his 30's now and I've heard Barca are looking at £15m+. Wages would be high and I don't think they'd consider a loan.

Too pricey for me, although I'd love to see him in the league.

Plus injury issues? It could go either way really, huge success or his body breaks down and he fails to recapture his best form. But I suppose that's the risk you take with older players.

I agree and not the usual age for a Spurs signing. I'm not sure who we haven't been linked with and its only January 2. So far i've heard Villa, Holtby, Zaha, Willian, Leondro, Moutinho and Sneijder

I don't disagree with anything he said on the rant. But I said at the time that the happiest person in the world when he went off on his rant was Ferguson, he knew he had the title won then and there.

[edit]My complaints are down mainly to FA procedures, and the consistency of referees and FA decisions, not Ferguson. And I'm not a premier league manager going off my nut on national TV.[/edit]

You could get VDV back after he slapped his mrs and they've broken up. No need for him to be in Germany now.

Just saw that, but probably still wants to be around his kid. Plus he is still injury prone, didn't play the last 4 games in the Bundesliga before their break.

luca scapuzzi off to varese on loan with an option to buy, and we have a buyback option.

yeah, can't see that buyback clause ever being activated. big news too.

Yeah, don't expect we'll see him again. Space for a kid in the reserves that might make it as opposed to one that definitely won't :thumbsu:

Good that Ba looks likely to be going to Chelsea means they wont go after Walcott as come the start of the next season they will have Ba, Lukaku, Torres and probably Falcoa though if Falcoa does come I imagine Torres will be sold. Means Walcott's only other option would be Liverpool but that would be a slight step down and he can get the same wage at Arsenal though if city sell both Dzeko and Balotelli then they may look at him but I doubt it.

Going to Liverpool is a step up. Were a bigger club than Arsenal. :)

The transfer market has inflated so much in recent years it's impossible to tell what represents 'good value' a lot of the time, especially if it's a big club doing the bidding - as Rodgers said, he's found the asking price for many of his targets increases by a few million as soon as it becomes known that Liverpool are interested. Personally I think Sturridge is a very talented footballer with a lot of potential and this could turn out to be a very wise investment, the proof will be in the pudding though obviously.

In other news, I'm reading from a few reports that Walcott's representatives met with Arsenal today and he's agreed to a 4 year contract extension.

You're barely more significant than Arsenal Kiev at the moment.

£12m, £60k/week

Ta, apparently our sell-on was only 15%. But still a couple of mill to add to the £6.5m we've already got. Coventry get 10% of that.

Heard they pulled out of the bidding for Zaha because Walcott is staying

Have seen this around but to me it doesn't make sense. The main reason being Walcott's future will be predominately through the middle with the odd start on the wing which doesn't effect Zaha as he has been playing on the left wing for palace this season(at least from the games i have seen). The second reason being we would have been targeting Zaha with the intention to keep Walcott so if we have pulled out its either because their may be a bidding war for him which we dont enter bidding wars or we are looking for someone with more experience. I personally think that we will still go for Zaha and media are doing what they do best.

i dont even think there is a bidding war really. a couple of interested clubs who would be insane to pay was crystal palace want is suddenly an 'all out bidding war.' a load of nonsense. just like walcott's contract talks. can't see him anywhere else but arsenal.
