Liverpool FC now spent £124,200,000 on their last 8 British players - Sturridge, Allen, Henderson, Downing, Carroll, Adam, Shelvey, Johnson.

Your point being? Shelvey, Henderson, Allen & Johnson were good signings. Sturridge remains to be seen. The rest were duds - don't see why it matters what nationality they are.

The real mugs were Chelsea taking a broken striker past his best for 50 million off our hands. Infact we have done very well selling Spanish speaking footballers. You can't get everything right.

thanks for that Cp'n Obvious.

Sturridge makes Defoe look like Messi byte way. Might help you though in your quest to finish 7th...

Mosrt Spurs fans I know (including GB) were demanding Sturridge and wanted Defoe out. Now that Sturrodge turned you lot down in August and he's joined Liverpool you've suddenly changed your tune. How's Gylfi going on his 70k a week wages btw?

Yeah I remember that, thta was after the 3 month period when he looked pretty good. You know, just before the time he turned out to be a complete and utter dud.

Are you ever ging to talk about anything other than Arsenal or Bruce Springsteen?
Well, if you have stalked me properly, which you clearly haven't, you will see I divulge into a variety of topics in the GD forum, not sure how Bruce is relevant here though.

And I posted about Liverpool on the previous page. Bit of selective memory though I'm assuming. Not sure why you wouldn't expect me not to post much about Arsenal considering they are the team I support.

You going to answer my question now or just try and counter with another irrelevant question?

Your right. Sturridge was a dud. Doesn't compare to the wildly successful Sigurdsson you bought obviously.

Soooo supposedly Sturridge is a huge waste of money and the only reason people have been able to come up with so far is that he's a bit selfish. Sounds like clutching at straws to me, he'll improve our squad and score goals of that there's no doubt and that's all we're after really. Suarez would have to be the most selfish player in the league but no-one seems to mind because he takes responsibility for the team and gets the job done by putting the ball in the back of the net. Oh what I wouldn't give to have more players who were so single-minded and 'selfish'.

I think there's a big disparity between what people think constitutes a lot of money for a player and what actually is a lot of money in today's inflated transfer market. It's 2013, not 2003, and £12m is not a huge amount of money for a talented young striker like Sturridge these days. The likes of Carroll & Torres were overpriced and a waste of money, but £12m for a 23 year old goalscorer (when played) like Sturridge represents reasonable value in my opinion and at the end of the day, who cares about an extra million or 2, it's pedantic. At worst we're not talking £5-10 million over market value here so the opportunity cost is not that great.

but that one's so enjoyable, especially when it's every single day.

'arry looking at tal ben haim. shocker, qpr chasing players that are absolute shit.

if fairness if he can get SWP to score, he might be able to get the best out of some other average players

Good post, and I agree. It was WC2020 who was acting like he was the second coming that people were taking offence to.

Ben Haim? Really?

yeah, he even confirmed it. the man who was so close to killing off portsmouth thanks to his wages. the man who sucked big time at chelsea and for us. again a 30+ players for their unstable backline. ridiculous signing.

Gylfi isnt doing too bad considering he has played in 15 minute cameos and already has more goals and assists than Downing did in his whole first season!

seriously dude you have excellent knowledge but you're ridiculously biased as ****. anyone who has watched enough of sturridge will know that he'll take on a ridiculous shot any time in preference of passing to a teammate with a legitimate chance of scoring. of course though when you put your biased LFC blinkers on all reason disappears. whoosh!
