As long as he recovers sufficiently from his broken leg, the €10m Fiorentina have paid Villarreal for Giuseppe Rossi could prove to be a very smart piece of business.

he did his acl twice in a row. in the same right knee too. i believe he is right footed. it's a risky move. if he can get back to his best then it's a top, top buy. but one acl is nasty enough, let alone two totalling up to close to a year and a half with no competitive football. be a while till we see him again, probably not this season either

Soooo supposedly Sturridge is a huge waste of money and the only reason people have been able to come up with so far is that he's a bit selfish. Sounds like clutching at straws to me, he'll improve our squad and score goals of that there's no doubt and that's all we're after really. Suarez would have to be the most selfish player in the league but no-one seems to mind because he takes responsibility for the team and gets the job done by putting the ball in the back of the net. Oh what I wouldn't give to have more players who were so single-minded and 'selfish'.

I think there's a big disparity between what people think constitutes a lot of money for a player and what actually is a lot of money in today's inflated transfer market. It's 2013, not 2003, and £12m is not a huge amount of money for a talented young striker like Sturridge these days. The likes of Carroll & Torres were overpriced and a waste of money, but £12m for a 23 year old goalscorer (when played) like Sturridge represents reasonable value in my opinion and at the end of the day, who cares about an extra million or 2, it's pedantic. At worst we're not talking £5-10 million over market value here so the opportunity cost is not that great.

Sturridge is good. Talent wise he is a beast. Now, the people saying he's selfish are stupid. The fact is that because of Torres he barely had a chance at Chelsea. Every opportunity got he acted a bit selfish to make his stamp on the game, anyone would have. Studge is a good buy and I think he'll do very well for you!

Meh he's alright, better than Downing though. They should've thrown more money and bought someone more proven. Another 50/50 kinda buy.

Can someone explain to me the hype surrounding Zaha? He's definitely got potential but here are some stats from the Championship so far this season:

Zaha: 4 goals 3 assists

Ince: 13 goals 10 assists

Both 20 years old yet one will be bought for £4-5m and the other for reasons unknown to me is being touted around the £15m mark? I think it's got a lot to do with Zaha talking himself up and the media exposure that his arrogance is creating for him, meanwhile Ince seems to quietly go about his business in an obviously far more effective manner.

Different types of players. Ince is more an icing on the cake player, Zaha has more substance about him.

There's a public footpath along the side. Paps go down the footpath and take photo's over the fence.

We tried to properly fence it off but the council said no.
Dont see why they cant just put up some kind of metal bracing and then drape a black tarpaulin over it or something. What you do inside the grounds is your business right??

There is a fence already, and the council have stopped us putting up a more permanent thing. Photographers go on step ladders to take the pics. I think we'll just have to wear it until we move to the new training ground.

I understand the council stopping more fencing but what you do inside the grounds is up to you right? So cant you just put up a 10 foot metal brace along the line of the fence and drape a cover over it.

We've covered a few pitches, but the training ground is a pretty huge area, not practical to cover it all up

read a rumour today of lescott to newcastle for 9 mil.

at that price, for his age, i don't think we can pass that up personally.

Agree, although with Kolo gone and Richards still injured I think it would leave us too light at the back. So I'd expect a replacement, or us to hold on until the last minute.

Few stories around about Colocini wanting to go back to Argentine so might be something in it.

im still sticking to my carvalho desire + sahko if we're lucky. but we'll obviously see how it plays out. bobby says no one coming in and no one going out, but he's been known to not quite be correct all the time.

Arsenal being linked with Jonas Ollson. Supposedly has a 3-4 million release clause in his contract.

You'll say I'm crazy but I don't know why you don't go for someone like Richard Dunne. He's almost the anti-Arsenal in defence but I think he could give you something you don't have (and not just the own goals). Would cost next to nothing, and would do a job as a squad player for a year.

Dont think your crazy at all as its a good suggestion. I cant comment on whether the Dunne of right now would be the right player as I havent seen him play in over a year but from what I remember seeing before he stopped playing was a player who was more then good enough for fourth choice centre back and a player who scored a lot of unfortunate own goals. As long as we sign an experience defender on a short deal and on low wages then it should work out. Though in saying that we need defenders who are fast and can recover offer wise they will get found out will our high line which is what happened to Squillaci.

Sakho is an outstanding prospect in Fifa and in real life but i'm sure PSG would not let him go as they can match whatever City will throw at him in wages. Another player who is almost identical to Sakho though is Kurt Zouma. I think we're in for him too though and SAF invited him to Old Trafford once. Zouma is a beast in Fifa too!

i know zouma and i would love him but i'd give him a year or two personally. solid prospect but i don't want us paying through the nose for him. i've mentioned sahko because he's 1) left footed and 2) isn't getting time at psg and is said to be frustrated. thiago silva has said that he prefers to play next to alex, and that has been the number 1 pairing. whether we could get him i doubt, but i just threw his name in there because he's young and his career has stalled a bit in the last couple of seasons. funny to think that 2 seasons ago he was their captain. i mean, he captained them in his first season in the first team at the age of 17! captained all through the youth levels, for club and country, he's just a natural leader who is also a very, very talented individual.
