You wouldn't think so for a quality player like him.

it's just that it was so quick and straightforward. usually if there's more than 1 club it takes like a week at least. a very good get, will be difficult to rotate all those guys.

will gladly take gylfi to ease some of that pressure. and bale. and sandro. and dembele. there we go. all better.

They are but how long before Bale leaves. If they dont make CL this year and Real come calling?

I don't think Bale is that integral to their success. Playing well no doubt, but anyone who gets him will overpay, and their building a solid squad without him in it.

Gettinng a decent squad together Spurs. Only problem is how long they can stick with their wage restraint.

Will probably go up a bit with the new tv rights. But we will probably have to keep it tight with the new stadium coming. If we get a quality striker and not lose anyone i think we should be able closer to the Manchester clubs maybe 5-10 points off them next year

Think Dempsey would be the first to go. Picking up Dembele and Holtby within a year for 15 million is great business

He is a terrific player though that always causes teams problems. Will hurt them to lose him. They do have a really good squad though and Holtby is a good get.

Nah, they've all been stained with Spursness.

It's like recruiting Richmond players, never worth doing it.

Totally off topic but I'm trying to think of Spurs players that have played for Man City and vice versa, and I can't think of many. Only Clive Allen and Paul Walsh so far.

Surely there was more than that.

[edit]Adebayor now I guess[/edit]

If Bale leaves and we use the money to replace him with say Willian and Leandro would we really be worse off. As you said they will have to overpay for him and we should be able to buy 2 very good players for the money we get.

But if we keep building the squad like we have i think we should be playing CL which would make it less likely for Bale to leave

Another excellent piece of transfer business by spurs in signing holtby. Geez that came out of nowhere, thought arsenal/Liverpool were in line to get him.

Vedran the other obvious.
Your right there hasn't been many that I can think of aside from those above.

Paul Walsh always had his best hair days at Spurs. :)

Yep, forgot about him.

Paul Walsh had a best hair day? ;)

Reminds me of Heinze, who was given a legal document by United saying he could join any club that paid the transfer fee they wanted for him. Of course, we came in Heinze wanted to join us and Fergie lost the plot. Not surprisingly Heinze lost his tribunal case against forcing United to sell him to Liverpool but he's a legend for taking that filthy club to court over forcing a transfer through. Should have been allowed to but when it comes to the FA United always get their way.

It really does seem that whenever Liverpool are "interested" in a player, Spurs seem to always come along and put their noses into it. Dempsey, Holtby..

Thank god we didn't sign Dempsey & Sigurdsson, really dodged bullets there. Our offer for Dempsey reflected what we thought of him.

Maybe we are able to keep who we are targeting much quieter than Liverpool. Also the teams have similar aspirations along with Arsenal to be in the CL so would be trying to get players who have the quality to get them there. There isn't that many of that sort who are available in each window

Definately...we have signed some poor players of late but glad we dodged these 2. But Holtby would be a good addition to any EPL club.

In terms of midfielders, he's a nice addition but not what we need. The only two type of midfielders we should be signing are a no#10 or a physical beast/DM type ala Diame/M'Villa. We don't need another attacking midfielder.

Yet you spent more on Joe Allen for a position you were pretty well served than we spent on both of them combined. If you had one of them there it would strengthen a position where you need it you might be further up the table
