Curious to see the type of money the relegation candidates spend. That is where all the action happens in January. Dont think this year will be much different. I do hope Chelsea sign Falcao in January but I do think Atl Madrid will hold on til the season is over. In January id be asking for 70 mill for Falcao personally.

Other then that no big players will be moving so why would big clubs be spending?

48 mil release clause ;)

however atletico are negotiating a new contract from what guillem said. not surprising, it's a double edged sword. sell him and clear a lot of their debts, but lose the ability to really compete for their champions league spot which would bring them just as much, if not more money.

Signed a new contract already Release clause is ****ed up. A minimum of 55 mill but that can only be activated at the end of the season. In January its a different figure (like 68 mill). If I was Madrid id be demanding that be paid

A bit said about it here

has he actually signed it yet? i read he'd been offered one of 68 mil

In Spain you get paid X amount by clubs so they can alter your buyout clause. Madrid just threw him 1 or 2 mill probably and only changed his buyout clause. Doesnt really effect him too much. The more he is sold for the bigger the fee he gets when he leaves

I'd love to know who's on their scouting team. For the past 2 seasons it's seemed like a case of 'wait and see who Liverpool are linked with and we'll go after them'.
Last one year*. Grateful that we didn't chase Downing, Henderson, Coates and the like!

Need someone in to replace Modric and VDV, do that and we're in good shape.
Dembele is one replacement, Moutinho seems like the other option.

I'd like to see us go for a Mertens kind of player and then play Bale more central. Gives us alot more flexibility too. Not sure how much PSV would want for him though.

Stop asking for money for Joe Cole. Just release him on a free. Im pretty sure he would agree his contract being torn up knowing he could fetch a big sign on fee being a free agent. He wont leave any other way. Downing on the other hand will probably fetch say 3-4 mill with the club also handing him a big sign on fee to reduce his wages.

Club like Southampton might nab him IMO

Strong rumors around that Lampard might be off to China in January. Chinese club Guizhou Renhe (same club Dino Djublic plays for) has apparantly offered Lampard a 2 year 300k per week deal to join + a fee to Chelsea. Higher wages then both Drogba and Anelka

Hearing that Walcott has rejected Arsenal's latest contract offer. I'll be very surprised if he's still there by the end of January

We really should be going after him, he's not good enough to demand a CL club, and too young and not bad enough to go to a lower club

So a mid table club like us would suit him, plus he is exactly what we need: someone who plays on the right side with pace who can finish

I don't think Arsenal are particularly desperate to keep him. I agree he'll be gone in January.

I dont understand why Walcott would leave one low paying club to join another low paying club. Strikes me as the type of player who would demand big wages wherever he goes.

Wouldnt surprise me if Tottenham chase him (AVB apparantly wanted him at Chelsea) along with Liverpool.

The talk is that it's not the wages, it's his frustration with Wenger not backing him. He remains Arsenals top scorer so far this season despite making nearly all of his appearances as an impact sub (5/17 starts in all comps, 2/11 in the league).

For the sake of his future international career and further development as a player it wouldn't surprise me if he wanted to move elsewhere to a club where the manager rates him and is willing to give him greater opportunity regardless of whether the pay is significantly more (although I'm sure as with any potential transfer that would be a consideration). It looks as though Liverpool and Tottenham are the 2 most likely destinations given their vacancies in Walcott's part of the field.

He'll want to go to a champions league club and he'll expect big wages.

Might not be too many takers though, if we hadn't of bought Sinclair he wouldn't have been the worst option for us although I suspect he wouldnt accept a squad role.

It's a double edged sword for him as nearly every CL club is by definition very well stocked in that part of the pitch, otherwise they wouldn't be there. From what I've heard he's equally concerned about his playing time and being backed in by the manager in the interests of his further development as a player as he is about the wages.

Like you said, it would be suicide for him to go somewhere like Man City and spend the next 3 years warming the bench with a big wad of cash burning a hole in his pocket as he would be flushing his England career and chances of selection in yet another major international tournament down the toilet. And I think you'd find that this will be the case at most of the sides which could guarantee him CL football at the moment.

Admittedly this is just me making my own judgement on what I think would be driving him at the moment, but I guarantee not going to the Euros in the summer would have upset him far more than an extra £15-20k sitting in his pocket. Given the interest that is already being widely reported, in my opinion Liverpool or Tottenham will be in the box seat to pick him up.

I don't think I quite said that, and I don't agree with this idea that everyone that joins City damages their career either.

He did actually play in the last tournament as well.
