i still believe he's the best young striker in the world. if he ever wants to be. speed, strength, technical ability, size. maybe if he had some desire and brains, then this discussion of selling him would be unthinkable.

I would've thought it would be much easier to teach a player to pull his head in than to teach him half of the footballing ability Balotelli possesses. I'm sure he will figure it out at some point.

Very easy to make judgements on a player and use individual games as proof.

I'm guessing (in fact I know) that plenty of people were saying there was no logical reason to select Balotelli for the FA Cup Semi against United, the 1-6 game, the Cup final etc etc.

Out of form no doubt.

Jod, for someone that doesn't score much he has 5 less goals than Suarez from 23 less starts and 6 less appearances overall. And you think he is the best striker that ever lived worth £100 billion trillion.

Calm down precious, nobody doubts Balo's talent, he just doesn't have the mentality required for a top level footballer. Difference between Suarez & Balo is Suarez will chase every ball down and work his socks of even if he is having a bad game himself. In general the only thing that really pissed me off as a fan is a footballer who isn't putting in 100% and Balo has been guilty of that far too often.

If I could have any City players I wanted at Liverpool I wouldn't want Balo at all. And I suspect his career will always be punctuated by moments of brilliance sandwiched in between mediocre performances. Don't think you guys have a chance of winning the Champions League with someone like Balo in the dressing room.

you mean like a really nice guy who all the players love being around?

yeah what a terrible person. the only thing missing his his on field work. he's still only 22 and hopefully that develops soon. from all reports he's a really nice guy who is just having a problem turning it on for games. he may be going through a particularly rough patch but none of our strikers are particularly covering themselves in glory.

Thats good, because a year ago we didnt have a chance of winning the league with someone like Balotelli in the dressing room and you thought Andy Carroll would score more than him.

I'm off to the travel agents, where is the final next year?

Ballo could be the best striker in the world if he pulled his finger out.

It's funny how talented players who are inconsistent are for some reason deemed to have more talent than those who perform consistently, ie - Falcao.

It's kind of like when a player is injured or unavailable, and his stocks soar. Lucas became the best DM on the planet while he was out injured, for example.

I've seen enough of him at his best to know how damaging he can be. I was hoping that we would sign him. Now though not so sure. You can imagine how SAF would have dealt with him.

It's at Wembley and you won't be going. If your interested the Europa League final is in Amsterdam and all of the 3rd placed Champions League teams are in it.

'Macca', a well known source for Liverpool transfer news (called in advance every single transfer move Liverpool made over the summer accurately and has done for a number of years) is saying that Liverpool's senior players have been asked their thoughts on Daniel Sturridge.

I wonder whether it's an either/or situation with he and Walcott who is also strongly rumoured by numerous sources to be a target of ours since negotiations on his contract (which expires at the end of the season) have continually broken down with Arsenal, or whether we are making a play for both of them?

Should be able to get them for £7-8m each I would've thought given the contractual situations of both players.

There's still talk persisting of our interest in Demba Ba, Huntelaar and Dries Mertens though I think they're less likely, and of us making a move to bring Tom Ince back, although I can't see the logic in that move as I don't think he'd be much of an improvement on either Sterling or Jordon Ibe (talented 17 year old winger coming through the academy).

I'm expecting 2, maybe 3 players to come in fairly early in the window with Dani Pacheco (confirmed by his twitter account) looking like he's finally going to pack his bags and return to Spain. Shifting bench warmers Cole, Carroll and Downing out will probably prove to be more difficult but hopefully the club shops them around in the next few months seeing as their combined wages could comfortably pay for 1 or 2 world class players.

Have you heard the recent rumblings about Alexis Sanchez? Would be unbelievable but it's pretty wishful thinking. Talk of a loan from January then sale at the end of the season.

One of the best posts I've seen

I hate how being mature and cosistent isnt considered a natural talent. Only the special 1 and SAF can handle Ballotelli at this stage I'd say. Unless there is a drastic change in his own head I really cant see him being at City at the end of the 13/14 season. It's a real shame because he could be a gun but at this stage he has shown only glimpses of amazing talent and an abundance of immaturity. I like Mancini as a manager but i'm still yet to be convinced he can handle enigmas like Tevez & Ballotelli. Yes Tevez came back and scored some important goals to win the league but the fact of the matter is an amazing talent walked out for half a season.

No one goes from Barca to Liverpool.

La Masia superstar Dani Pacheco. That's all I've got.

To be honest I think it's just a bit of lazy journalism, we were enquiring about taking some of Barça's players (Tello & Affelay) on loan in the summer and because Alexis Sanchez has seen fairly limited game time this season (restricted mainly to appearing as a substitute, if at all), they've tried to put 2 and 2 together.

To be fair, I wasn't expecting Sahin (another top class player who was seeing limited playing time at a superpower club) to sign for us either. While players leave Barça for smaller clubs all the time for a variety of reasons, Sanchez is incredibly unlikely because I don't think his playing situation is anywhere near as bad as Sahin's was, but I'm hopeful we get a pleasant surprise in the form of a Sanchez-like loan signing. I've just read Rodgers mentioned he would again be looking to take advantage of the loan market at a pre-match press conference 2 or 3 weeks ago.

Were not a smaller club than Barcelona, we just havent been as successful as them of late.

Just saying.

well thought out story of the day:

MANCHESTER CITY may look to capitalise in the January transfer window following the news that Nigel de Jong has been placed on AC Milan’s transfer list.
De Jong has been deemed surplus to requirements by the Rossoneri’s president Silvio Berlusconi.

The Dutchman could be tempted now to swap Serie A and plot a sensational return to Premier League.

Man City fans remember De Jong well before he left for AC in the summer.

Berlusconi was quoted in Italian football site ForzaItalianFootball.com, as saying: “We’re disappointed, it is a real shame for De Jong.

“We’re evaluating the opportunity of going back on to the market if that is what is necessary.
City have not been as free scoring as the previous campaign and have been leaky at the back too, having shipped 14 goals in their first 16 Barclays Premier League matches.
De Jong has featured in 12 Serie A games for AC this season.

written AFTER he ruptured his achilles. AFTER.

He's a star, I have no doubt that he will be one of the greatest players in the world once he gets his shit together
