johnson, who i rate as average defensively, has never been an average player overall. but i guess coming from dalglish where no one looked above average i can understand where faith is coming from. the players look better and actually interested in playing, whereas under dalglish everything was bland and boring. the results will come.

pretty much what i was thinking.

No way they could get him atm. He would go to a CL club.

Sooo not Spurs? Personally I don't think he'll end up at Liverpool, but the fact is he's stayed at Fiorentina despite the fact they have finished 4th, 11th, 9th, and 13th since he arrived there. It seems to be the standard response any time a quality player is linked with Liverpool that they won't come because they all want CL football (despite not knowing a thing about the personality or career aspirations of the player in question).

While the lure of playing in the CL being the overriding factor may be true for a lot of players, some have different motivations. Some players will buy into the idea of being part of a project that will bring success in the future, playing at a prestigious club that; while not having had much success in the last 3 seasons, is still more than capable of paying big wages. Look no further than Suarez who recently signed a £130k/week 5 year contract extension after initially joining the club when we were at our lowest and most unstable point despite the interest of Redknapp.

I didn't even mention Spurs. But he could easily sign for Juve over Liverpool, given that we need a striker.

jovetic won't leave unless fior need him too. they're playing some pretty good stuff, in contention for a champions league spot, only a point off 2nd (which is the only spot that matters now, juve pretty much have the scudetto in the bag bar some horrible collapse.)

EFA. Probably more likely to happen.

Papers in Germany saying that Lewondowski to United is done on a 5 year deal. If true I am shocked. A striker is the last thing we need
*Lewandowski.

Not been reading Tribal Football again have you?

Daily Mail and The Telegraph are running with it, hardly convincing websites, but the rumour seems to be gathering pace. If we actually are after him it is really a big suprise, we have enough strikers already and we need to fix our defence and midfield first.

Welbeck will be gone for sure if he comes, but how the hell would we fit RVP, Rooney, Lewandowski and Kagawa all in the same team? no more wingers?

Will be majorly pissed if Utd get Lewandowski. Just weakens Dortmund, and will hardly get games at Utd. Just a transfer for the sake of it.

unless they're selling welbeck and hernandez, lew doesn't make any sense whatsoever. unless they're planning to play 4-2-4 with no wingers and hoping to win every game 10-9.

on the counterside i am completely bemused why anyone would want to leave dortmund right now. underperforming in the league right now but that's because they're focusing all their effort on the cl. bright times ahead with guys like gotze/reus, not to mention the stars they're undoubtedly going to bring through the academy.

The thing is if I recall correctly both Welbeck and Hernandez recently re-signed to 2015. Maybe SAF is grooming Rooney to be the CM we so badly need. Which I wouldn't be completely against tbh if we bring in another quality striker to replace him

Maybe a mid/forward combo of

RVP Lewandowski
Rooney
Kagawa Valencia
Carrick

Bench: Young Nani Welbeck Hernandez Cleverley
