There's a big difference between enjoying your time at a former club and negotiating a return there.

Madrid aren't going to give him away and he'll be able pick up a contract at plenty of top clubs in Europe.
Yeah of course, but it's not often you see a top player so involved in there old club. Alonso clearly has a deep connection with the club and the fans, surely you can see that. Madrid wont give him away no but he 31/32 and only has 18 months left on his contract. He wont cost too much.

He would have the pick of any top club in Europe too but he has already won the CL, La Liga, FA Cups, World Cups etc etc. He has done it all. Time to come home! :)

Liverpool fans always know who Spurs are interested in signing.

Only the half decent ones, we didn't go after Downing, Henderson or Carroll.

Demba Ba's agents expect talks with Chelsea to resume his week after a hitch in his move to Stamford Bridge.
The Newcastle striker, who has already hit 13 goals this season, is wanted by the Blues but talks broke down yesterday over wages.
Chelsea have offered Ba £70,000-a-week but his representatives see the amount as not much more than the money he is currently on at St James’ Park. Ba earns £35,000-a-week basic and £25,000-a-week for appearances.

Most sources are saying that Sturridge will be announced by Liverpool at some point today and will make an appearance at Anfield before the game.

Carroll: http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11675_6708608,00.html

Quotes from Redknapp on Downing: http://metro.co.uk/2011/08/22/totte...ng-phil-jones-and-stewart-downing-bids-128844

I think you've forgotten (understandably) how highly rated those 2 were at the time, despite how farcical the fees we paid for them were. Chelsea, yourselves and City all held strong interest in Carroll but unfortunately we were the only ones stupid enough to pay Newcastle's (in hindsight) ludicrous asking price.

Edit: I couldn't find anything on Henderson, but I'm sure there's a quote somewhere from Harry 'We woz in for im' Redknapp somewhere.

I'll re-phrase that then. We don't overpay for anyone that isn't half decent. The Carroll offer was still 12m short of what Liverpool paid and Downing we refused to pay the wages he wanted

Harry was interested in anyone English with 2 arms and 2 legs. And if you look at him going for Cole and Beckham it seems as if that policy hasnt changed

Yep. However, that wasn't the original point being made. The joke was that Tottenham's scouting staff seem to have had a recruitment policy recently of 'let's see who Liverpool go for and bid for them instead of researching our own targets'!

The joke is that Liverpool supporters actually think this is true.

Maybe they just feign interest to bait you into overpaying for average players.

Just got told Marco Rojas to Reading could happen.. Very interesting. Not sure if he's ready to move to EPL yet.

Angelo Henriquez has gone on loan to Wigan from United. Any United supporters able to tell me how well he has been doing for your reserves?

How depressing:

http://community.footballpools.com/...liverpool-miss-out-on-4m-south-american-star/

Rafa tried to sign Falcao back in 2009. Went through the official LFC forums and it seems that our good texan redneck friends refused to fund the move for an unproven south american footballer.

If Rick Parry had agreed to paying a 1 million pound signing on bonus a young Portugese kid by the name of Ronaldo would have gone to us and not to United a bit later as well.
